Need 480GB SSD which one?

I am a big fan of the OCZ Vertex 4 but people tell me ocz are unreliable, the speeds are good. or is you have a good amount of money you could always buy like 2X 256gb and put it in raid 0?

How much are you looking to spend? From personal experience I would say a Crucial M4 512 GB (They don't do a 480 GB ). I have the 128 GB version and it has been flawless so far.

Theres the corsair gs480gb,samsung 840pro 512gb, samsung 840 500gb, crucial as mentioned above, kingston hyperX 3k 480gb.. All very good ssds:)

Donno around £205-£300

The scandisk extreme 480 is a good price but it seems to be one of the worst performing SSD's

840 pro is a high price.

Well, the Crucial M4 is known to be one of the most reliable drives out there. The write speeds specified are the fastest. This does not mean that the drive will maintain that speed when writing. I wouldn't look solely at the max read and write speeds as in real life usage scenarios, most of the drives are pretty much identical.

As for the drive you've suggested, I don't really have much experience or have read much into Pny drives so I can't really recommend them. I have a Force 3 and an M4, where the M4 has been flawless since I've had it. I've had a number of issues with my Force 3 drive, hence why I recommended the M4 and not the Force 3.

You can't go wrong with the Crucial M4 or a Samsung SSD. They are two of the most reliable drives I've heard so less likely to have a problem with it compared to some others. As things stand, there is little real world difference between most SSDs these days and will probably stay that way until SATA IV or whatever comes next.

Ok i think i will go with the samsung as its cheaper, cant believe it was at that price as its about £311 everywhere else, cheers for the help guys

Just curios as to why some SSD's seem to have around 500mb/s write and the crucial and samsung seem to have around 300mb/s seems a lot lower.

I'm not really sure about that, but you don't really need to worry about that as no drive maintains its max read/write speeds. Real world usage will be similar, but the Samsung drive will be more reliable than most.
