Give it a try, the good thing about it is you don't lose any money if you don't like it. Unlike the £50+ for BF4 and Premium :\
I think i still have a voucher for it from back when i had the GTX670, i wonder if it's still usable.
Oh, BF3 might be playable soon. There is a little project called Project Venice Unleashed, they are backwards engineering the game. They already managed to build their own server structure and have multiple players join the server, their plan is to remove all the bullshit (blue tint, weapon fov, suppression, no mods) from the game. The closed beta is going to start soon, but the process takes a very long time since they only have two active developers who are also in the final stages of their studies at university. The closed beta was supposed to happen in september 2013 just to give you a timescale.
Apparently even a couple of DICE devs signed up for the closed beta (i unfortunately didn't get a key

), i don't know if that is a good thing or not. DICE have banned people for small modifications before, but Venice also requires one to own the game in origin, so they may let it slide because the game is already out of date.
They also have another project called Project Rome, which is a modification of BC2 which has been running for about 2 years i think. It's pretty stable by now and mods are getting better, for example there is a pretty good airplane mod, even though i expect that the code for those already existed and the modder only extracted it.
The link to their website is
here.
Venice only exists on their
forums so far, but they have some interesting statistics.
The big fear of course is that it will end up like AlterIWnet/4D1, meaning that it will have a good run for about 3 or 4 years until the developers get sued and the projects get taken down.
