My VTR Project Log... yes, it's yellow!

Quick photoshop with white mesh:

I'd go for black mesh..or white because white will end up black with dirt anyway :)

I was meaning about the wheels being white btw, not the car...

Gonna go chav and do it white first, if it stands out too much I'll just spray it black instead!

*waits for insults to start* :D

Couple of small updates rolled into one here! ;)

Got the secondary electric window switches installed into the door cards, can get these re-trimmed now, i'm picking out some fabric on Saturday.

Either gonna go for black leather or a black w/ thin blue pinstripe. :)

They lock in place nice and firm, no wiggling about thank god! :D

Next, removed the battery and battery tray, gonna blast/coat the tray and then i'm getting a battery box/cover fabricated to cover it all up and keep it out of harms way.

After vapour blasting

Thats gone off to be coated glossy black.

Whilst I've got the exhaust off i'm in 2 minds about blasting / high temp. coating the manifold in gloss black, any thoughts? :p

Nice work mate, keep it coming :) I trust you will be SCing it?

Having the manifold painted black will result in it radiating a fair bit of heat, although it will get up to temp faster. If you do it make sure you have a CAI or heat shield for the air intake. Personally I would find someone to do a ceramic coating in black, will keep heat in and get the exhaust up to temp pretty fast. Also worth giving the inside a good polish while its off to increase escape speed.

Providing my interview friday goes well i'll be splashing about £900 on my baby in one go so might post some photos. Coilovers, ARBs, M3 manifold and cat section, high flow inlet mani, bored out throttle body, induction kit the size of my head, remap and toying with stripping it out. Might replace the badge with a 318 one too, nothing like a bit of chav bait ;)

Whats SC'ing? I'm new to this car modding malarchy! :p

I had a look at getting it done in ceramic paint but I can get it done in normal high temp. gloss black for free so it's easier this way.

I'll give the inside a rub down once it's been vapour blasted, hopefully tomorrow evening.

The manifold heatshield has already been blasted and thats already at the coaters waiting to be done in the same powder.

Which induction kit you putting on it?

I'm determined to get a K&N Apollo CID, just having trouble sourcing one in the right colour at the moment. :(

Already got an ECU remap lined up for when it's ready for it, a guy i'm dealing with at the moment on some other stuff is ex chief mechanic at the local Citroen garage so he's got all the official remapping kit, said he'll do it for me if I want. :D

Get some pics of yours up! ;)

Supercharging :stickpoke

I'll be buying one custom made for my car, the filter is K&N but the rest is custom fabricated. Wanted a Gruppe M one but the price takes the pi5s.

I'll get some photos this weekend once its been washed polished and waxed. Currently the car is at a 3way fork in the road. One direction results in it being stripped out completely and the engine squeezed for everything its worth. The second is turn it into a rather fast sound system, tints and general gangsterness and the third is keep it standard and go halves on an old mini track car with my mate and stick the engine out of an old Saab 9000 aero turbo in the back :D

Sadly no supercharger on the cards any time soon, "possibly" look at dropping a 16v VTS engine in it 6 months down the line but the insurance will kill me!

I'd say go for a combination of 1 & 2 or leave it alone and do 3.

#3 sounds pretty fun though! ;)

Yea #3 is a possibility, ive got a mate that wants to go halves on a track car some time soon

Why dont you drop the engine in and then supercharge that :p Just kidding, there's plenty of other things you can do to squeeze a little more power out of it.

Ready for some money shots of the rocker cover...? :D:D:D

Silver base coat with Blue Candy shot over the top of it.

Manifold removed

Manifold back from being vapour blasted, came out really well! :D

Also got the ECU tray and a few other misc. pieces done at the same time:

High Temperature Gloss Black Powder... DONE!

IMG_0853.jpg

IMG_0858.jpg

Got the heatshield / ECU cover etc all back as well but pics to follow. :)

Making nice progress on this, continously getting bits blasted / coated whilst working on the mechanical side of things.

IMG_0950.jpg

Something reacted with the powder, possibly silicone by the looks of it, not to worry the battery sits on top of it anyway, it stills looks a damn sight better than it did previously.

IMG_0960.jpg

Took the rears & spare to Kwik Fit and got them to remove the tyres, so this is the alloys prior to any refurb work.

Back from being vapour blasted...

Whilst the rears are off we made a start on the brakes.

Check the discs & pads, remove the calipers & swap over the brake hoses.

IMG_2507.jpg

IMG_2622.jpg

Calipers are being done in Candy Blue like the rocker cover, need to order in some powder and get a few bits together to do at once though.

IMG_2628.jpg

IMG_2676.jpg

Finally, this has been a massive ball ache... it's the load compensator for the rear brakes, it had siezed up & as a result there was no power going to the brakes.

Absoulte mare to remove, was close to rounding off the nut heads! :(

IMG_2618.jpg

IMG_2623.jpg

Finally got it off & used a BFH to free it up and then wire brush attachment to remove surface rust.

IMG_2632.jpg

IMG_2636.jpg

Last nights job, cleaning the rest of the calipers & changing the brake hoses.

After much ****** about trying to get the hard brake lines off, we finally managed it and removed the brackets which hold them as well.

Left it all in diesel to degrease them then painted them in some Satin high temp. paint, looks tons better now!!

IMG_2739.jpg

IMG_2741.jpg

Lastly thing, removed the exhaust to find where it's blowing & cleaned it up with the wire brush, think I'll throw some high temp. black paint on whilst it's off.

Exhaust01.jpg

On a couple of side notes, I snapped the lambada sensor, need to fnd a replacment! :(

Have also decided what colour to do my wheels, Sparkle Silver base coat then a Black Chrome shot over the top.

and for novelty purposes...me dead under the car it seems! :o:o:o
