my two graphiccards wont fit

so... I went out and bought

2 Gainward GTX 560 ti (2GB) "Phantom" - with apparently a too large cooler.

and I bought a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7-B3

and to my surprise the two cards wont fit next to each other in the two 16x slots

and in the process of finding out i of course unpacked one of the cards breaking 2 "box sticker seals"

- the motherboard wasn't that hard to open i would probably have no problem returning that (in case i would need that)

- so what are my options

my own best is to try to return both cards - and replace them with 2 of these: EVGA GTX 560 Ti (2Gb)

these are like 10% more expensive and this might push the retailer to say "ok" even if i broke the "sticker seal" on one of the boxes

but if i cant return it - then whats the best solution ? new mobo new coolers or a third option?

Just use the next pci-e x16 slot.Problem solved

The sli-connector delivered with the mobo should fit,mine does

Swap the motherboard. Total sod huh! that card cooler needs breathing space between the next card. This ASUS Extreme looks suitable http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/Maximus_IV_Extreme/ maby with some new Cougar fans shown at OC3D news. Expensive board ;\ bloody good board

there are only 2x "16x" and 2x "8x"

ill try to look into an alternative motherboard

but i just read on the dealers homepage that the box has to be returned in a "likewise" condition - so ill try to go for that - i somehow like evga better and im willing to pay the extra money for that

even though its danish you can see the listed RAM speeds (RAM Hastighed) are somehow higher on the gigabyte mobo

ok thx. the chip that adds PCI lanes is it for 8 or 16 extra because if it's just 8 that board is a bit @*! !sorry! for alot of multi GPU setups thou x8 is good enough for a 560 i think. Tough for me to help I'd have to look at the OC3D videos again. RAM speed erm ASUS provided quick enough for most of us. For gaming you shouldn't risk games crashing etc trying max OC's

Both boards will run 2133mhz RAM it must just be a typo for the Asus or they are just listing the natively supported RAM speeds which are 1333mhz or 1600mhz, but both boards will run 2133mhz RAM.

so as he mentions in the video so far its the only board that will run both cards at 16x

but then whats the difference between p67a - and z67x

-but as i see it this will the z68x ud7 b3 also
