My Setup

In the holidays after my first year at university I did some final touches on my setup and I thought I'd share the result with you guys.

Athough it's not quite up to JR23's level I still think I need to put a OCD warning on this.:p

Thanks man!

The speakers were part of a fairly high end hifi system my dad bought about 25-30 years ago. They sound very nice and since they are not "pc speakers" but proper hifi speakers the get very loud without starting to sound bad.

The Q701 deliver balanced sound and so far I really like their sound signature.
You do need an amp of some sort to get the most out of them, for now I run them over my asus xonar soundcard (no headphone amp unfortunately) and through the big amp that also powers the speakers.

Let me know if you'd like to know more

I approve of the cleanness. It is more OCD than my cave right now as there are just rigs and hardware everywhere, sooo many boxes!

This is your home setup right, how much of it do you take to University?

Thanks, really nice project you're working on btw!

Yes this is my home setup, and I also live at home during the semester as it's only about 25 km to Zurich from my house.
I Switzerland (at least in Zurich) there are no dorms right on the campus, the way I think it is in the states, and even when you share a flat with other students it can be quite expensive.

Those speakers originate from a Sony FH-7 MkIII midi system from the mid 80's. More interested to know what the integrated amplifier is. Looks similar to a luxman, technics or pioneer. Is that an ikea "Lack Rack" enclosing it?

I've got too much kit to manage to pull tidy off that well.

The amp is a Mitsubishi DA-U780, it's rather old and I might have to replace it soon as it's had some issues recently.
And yes that's an Ikea Lack table with 20cm cut off it's legs, I think it looks quite nice there and it gives me a place to put some little things I made in a practicum and for a uni project

Man, I love those headphones. I went for the MX300 from Beyerdynamic back when I bought new ones. Not that I regret it, but the AKG ones sure look the part as well.

Great deskerea though, clean and spacious.
