Looks mighty fine dude.. being and intel fan boy im going to say skull trail.. But realistically its farrrrr to expensive.. that thing should look sweet underwater..!

Nice but man, those gx2's will need some more cpu hp to truely unleash but still a seriously awesome rig...

...Gets a bit jealous and wishes he didn't have to save for holidays so he could get shiny new pc goodness :/

thnx....

....for your comments,appreciated:D

i had been holding out for quad core cpu's for this mobo.as you all know it was scrapped in favour of phenom quad...blah,blah.

anyhow, maybe some light at the end of the tunnel...perhaps.....,quad core 2*** opterons.am lookingf into it.if not an option i may just go for the single cpu.

ok,i am looking for suggestions regarding kit to watercool this 'oven'....anyone??

You want to w/c the lot?

I'd say 2 loops.

1st loop for the cpu's; so ddc pro/ultra pump, nice double/tripple rad like thermochill pa120.2 or pa120.3, two d-tek fuzions or ek supremes, 7/16" tubing and 1/2" barbs, oh and fans of choice. Thermochill rads are optimised for low cfm fans, I saw negligible temp diff swapping from 140cfm fans to 70cfm fans other than my ears thanking me!

2nd loop for gpu's; er, the same to be honest but with whatever w/b you like for the gx2, they all seem to cost ~£100!!!

Hope you have deep pockets!

As was said, a single 4ghz QX9650 dosent power single GX2 enough at 2560x1600 let alone 2. Im thinking youd need one hell of a processor to run both at max potential. Never the less, AWESOME rig :worship:

Very nice rig BANKROBBER and thanks for the share :)

Ahem....:nono::stickpoke I think you've spent enough recently Smiffy.

Can i just say nice rig, just hope it performs better than reviews say.. although the quad cores for that board are meant to be coming end of the year...

ok....

....here is a quick line-up of my watercooling 'hopefulls'!

pretty much what i need, but could do with advice before spending out.

what is the general feeling of using peltiers?(TECS)....they would appear to give better cooling, but only with a marginal sacrifice in power usage.

do i need to use backing plates for the cpu blocks?

could i use just 1 resevoir?

looking into the quad opteron route(8 cores!)......maybe!......but how much do i need to oclock my cpu's to get the best out of the 9800gx2's?

ROB

ps,maybe a dual head phase change system could be a better option too :worship:

Nobody really knows but if a QX9650 @ 4ghz wasnt enough id say youd have to push any AMD to the limit to really bring out the power. WC, Peltier, phase change or not.

Umm the power requirements for an effective TEC setup will be pretty high, factor in the cost of insulation and the risks then its not the greatest option.

I would put your hands on as much radiator space as you can along with two of the best CPU blocks you can afford and run two loops with a common reservoir.

You would be needing to clock them as high as possible really. Still not sure whether that would be enough to get full power out of them though.

am i right in thinking that amd processor's arent very good with neg temps, i heard that phenoms wont usually boot (cold bug), if temps are in negative area. but might me :)

Nah thats what ive heard too, cold bug isnt as good on them as it is with intel. If you want to push them to the max, i can get you in contact with Little Devil, who makes all the phase systems for aqua-pcs, im sure he can make you a dual head phase.

However you would also need to water cool your mobo, it must chuck out serious heat.

temps at stock....

at present.yes it is hot in my living room!!

would like to get a quote for dual head phase unit;)

TEC's can be added at the rad end of the cooling chain possibly?.....single loops single resevoir for the cpu yes....even thinking of single loops for gpu as they run hotter than anything in here!

even a single phase head could be used as a chiller for complete system.....as long as it dont freeze the pipes lol!!

so many ideas but 1 shot to get it right.

if the 4core opterons work in here they run cooler anyhow and would only need to really cool the gx2's initially.

The cold boot applies to B2 revision Phenoms. The B3 Phenom X4s from what i hear do not have this problem.
