My picture always brakes up

Hello. I've had this problem for a while now. Whenever I move around in a game the picture brakes up horizontally.

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem? Is it my card?

Cheers,
Chris.

It's called frame tearing.

To get rid of it you can turn on Vsync which will lock your framerate to the same as your monitors refresh rate. It happens because you're screen isn't updating fast enough to keep up with the frames being sent to it because it updates in lines (or halves) instead of all in one go. (that's the basics of it)

It can be a little detrimental on performance if you're struggling to get 60fps (or whatever your refresh rate is) from your machine though. Also enable tripple buffering if you turn on VSync as it can help.

Good luck!

Thanks mate VSync fixed it :)
I'm not sure what triple buffering is or where the setting is?

I noticed that the game lags quite a bit now though when there's a bunch of enemies. Realisticly, what GPU's should I be looking at for 1080P gaming with graphics maxed out?

A 7950, 670 or 760 should be more than fine at 1080p.

Thanks for the reply. I thought id need to spend like 3-400.
What would i need to game at 1440p maxed out? I was just looking at the 7970.

No probs, vsync can do that sometimes. Tripple buffering will be in the video card options, and can sometimes be in-game but not often.

Probably a few notches higher on the graphics tree than that for all maxed out, something with 3gb of vram as well, 1440p with AA requires vram.
