My New Build

Hi All,

I'm new to overclocking so I have some simple questions regarding this subject and my new build:

Is it just the CPU & GPU you can OC? I have just done this on my current rig and was wondering if there are any other components I could OC to improve my PCs performance?

Which are the best benchmarks to run? And how do I understand what my score means?

Any advice would be greatly appriecated.

Thanks

For CPU's most people normally use prime95 and/or Intel Burn Test. For GPU's Furmark is the way to go and for ram prime95 and/or Memtest. There is no guide here on OC'ing RAM, but it is very simple in the case of SandyBridge. I have no experience with other boards so I'm not sure how overclocking RAM works on them, but I'm assuming it would be similar in the sense of setting RAM timings and RAM frequency. Do a quick google search and you should get plenty of hits.

Pretty much this, you could also undertake the tasks you will be using your cpu for as a test if the cpu is stable because prime95 is an extreme test that stresses the cpu to levels you would never reach in day to day tasks.

You could do, but issues are found faster by using the aforementioned methods. Folding could also be used as a stress test if you wanted to
