My new build, a bench.

I got tired of my last effort to fit all my gear into a standard case and have been thinking some time now about building a bench.

Here is my last case build,

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=243059

This is my new build.

The dimensions complete are ''H 18", W 17", D 12" ''.

Lets start with some 19mm aluminium angle

and then do this,

and then start to put it together,

I cut up an old Aopen desktop case and scavanged the mobo tray for the top and cut out all the unwanted plate, all edges are sanded and smooth,

Then i start putting the hardware in,

my cooling setup, the psu fan is sucking air from under the cpu area to help cool the mobo also, there is about a 1"+ gap between the mobo and psu,

back,

And now some money shots,

The fan is blowing under the board aswell,

Im far from finished this build.

I still have to make a front panel for switches ,ports and fan controller. also the most important dust cover. Ive got some very light black voile fabric to make a cover, this fabric is nearly transparent and will look ace when its done. I need to get to my fathers sewing machine to finish the cover.

I only got the machine running less than two days ago now and i have some good prime results already,

cpu @ 1.4v in bios and ram at stock . primed for 8hrs ,no errors very low temps,

Ive still lots to do.

Very nice work so far brotha! You are keeping it nice and clean and simple, which is what I like. Nice accessibility to all parts, jumpers, etc as well. I do believe that if and when I decided to get back around to building another PC I may just go the bench route myself as cases are just a PITA to work with....

Cheers mate, lookin' great! :rocker:

thanks for the kind words frag.

the angle is so easy to work with i dont think ide buy another case again.

im kinda planning another build already. this build took about 4hrs to complete the main bench, im still not finished with all the other tweekings like fittings till im happy etc.

the never ending tweeking bug has me by the nads ;-).

Looks cool :) - I quite like your other build too.

What design you gonna have on the side panels this time?

im not sure what my next design will be . it will not be till the new year when im even gonna consider a new build as i have to see how much i like this setup 1st.

im kinda thinking like a kandalf type with the board standing like a normal atx case but with a rad chamber behind the mobo and finished in polished aluminium angle with aluminium sheet and clear windows. it will give the case a smaller footprint and it will not be that tall. the problem is the 17" lenght of the pa120.3 rad.

@rastalovich, thank you.
