My monitor's crapping out, need replacement

I currently have a 19" LCD and it's on it's way to silicon heaven. The backlight is flickering to the point that if I look at the screen for more than a few minutes at a time, I end up with headache.

Anyways, I am in the market for a new LCD, want a 22" screen size, with min res of 1920x1080 for under £200. I am trying to keep cost down, as I have a project going on at the mo which is eating into my stash. I have seen a few around the £140-£150 mark that have taken my interest. One of these is the Dell S2009W. Any recommendations fellas?

That's a lot of resolution to cram into a 22"!

In order for a decent recommendation, it'd help to know your main uses for it

(i.e. Gaming, Video, Photo Editing/design work).

Though in retrospect, most monitors as of late cope fine with gaming/video and the only important one is photo editing/design work where you still need accurate colour reproduction.

Could take a look at the Acer H223HQ. Priced around €180 in the Netherlands, 21.5" @ 1920*1080. Has vga, dvi and hdmi connections, but doesn't come with an hdmi cable. The two user reviews I've read both rate it 5 out of 5.

I have a seperate setup for my design work etc, with a 21" CRT. This monitor will be for gaming and general purposes. There are alot of 22" monitors coming out now that are 16/9 instead of 16/10 format.

EDIT: thanks Monkey, I will take a look at that Acer model.

Any reason for 22" stu? Enless theres space issues you really should consider a 24" imo. There's a noticeable size difference and you can never, ever have too much desktop real estate.

Somthing like this or this would do nicely IMO.

My main rig is in the spare room at the mo, but we are decorating and kitting it out for our youngest daughter as her bedroom. So I will be moving the rig elsewhere. I didn't want another 19" WS so thought about a 22" as space would be at a premium in the new location. I done some browsing though after your post and the overall size difference from a 22" to a 24" wasn't that much. So I ended up getting a 24" :)

I have my MM U2-UFO on my desk at the mo, along with a router, keyboard, 2x ext. HD's, 2 speakers, and my phone hub, so it's looking pretty cramped at the mo. So no pics of my desktop just yet:D When I move into the other room, the U2-UFO will be on castors on the floor so my desk will be alot less cramped.

Anyways, I plumped for a Samsung SyncMaster 2433BW 24" LCD, and it's fookin well smart, especially when you put my beat up old 19" ws next to it. I could only find one review of it before buying and it said that it was a decent enough monitor, so I got it. Gutted about my old one knackering up now though, as it's put my build project behind a week or two now. At least I will have a snazzy new monitor for when everything is finished:)

samsung make the best displays imo, even though i have 2 lg's i also have a 32" samsung and its lush :)

the first monitor is a machine! love it haha

*EDIT: no DVI *sadface*

The Samsung SM2333SW is going for £160, seems like a good deal, though 5ms response isn't as fast as it can be, though probably fine for gaming.

Also the Samsung T220 is available for a tad more at £173 and seems like a good bet, with 2ms and looks nice too, though not wall mountable.
