My math teacher gave me this, and its quite the machine. All original parts
are fully functioning. The ram wasn't original since she had upgraded it from
128MB.

Specs:
Intel Pentium III
512MB SDRAM
40GB Quantum Fireball hdd (put in an 80GB hdd with Xubuntu)
11MB Unknown Intel graphics
100mb ethernet card
250watt Compaq PSU

Ah, man. I've been wanting to do a retro build for quite a while, and this has just reinforced my desire :)

But it's gonna have to wait for a little while longer. Or more ^_^

Mmmm Windows Multiple Errors.

Funny :D I even put the system on Xubuntu, Lubuntu, and Windows XP. None of them played nice, so I decided to make the system as original as possible. Now the compaq is put away for safe keeping. I find it amazing how everything lasted this long. Even the Quantum Fireball hard drive has zero bad sectors, according to Disk Utility in Linux.

Wow! That's a really old rig!

Why thank you. But this is nothing compared to my friend's 1992 Packard Bell. Floppy drives only. Ps2, parallel, and serial ports only. 4MB of ram and something like a 130MB Seagate hdd. Everything is original and fully functioning except for the power supply and cmos battery. I had to mod a modern psu and have it sticking the rear of the case in order for it to work.

Now THAT I would like to see!

The Packard Bell

Here it is guys, the Packard Bell Legend 650X

I apologize for the image quality, but all he had was his phone camera.

The power supply

The power switch which turns the computer on and off. Unfortunately the original psu was very proprietary and had some sort of rod which led up to the front button on the case.

The Insides

No such thing as airflow :D and 4MB of ram, you can't even undo in Paint!

That is so awesome!

If you ever at some far away point in the future get the chance to do a few more detailed pics, they would be highly appreciated (or even a few shots of the screen when the system is running, I'm not only interested in antique hardware but also ancient software).

Love the PSU mod!

Holy sh*t, My parents had one of those Compaq Pasario machines, It cost them £1100 from PC World!

Damn, I remember the days of Windows Mistake Edition!

Hey there. Any chance you could upload the pics again? They aren't showing up anymore, and I am sure I'm not the only one around that would love to have a look at the technology. Cheers.
