I don't think a cache driver for a storage drive, increases the speed much. SSD Caching is only senseful if you install your OS on that hard drive.

raiding the HDD would probably give you more performance increase than caching.

btw because i only have $445 a month to get parts starting in June,

thats epic for me I have only about 40-50€ per month.

Alice there is absolutly no need to ssd cache a storage drive. Total waste if time. And on the other hand the IRST tech is limited to the 2 sata 6gb ports on the intel chipset, This is where you will want your boot drive raid to be. Secondly get a single 680 instead of sli 660's which arent even out yet. I doubt seriously WoW will tell a difference. I played WoW perfectly fine on a single 560 as well as an older 4xx AMD card. Just trying to save you money and headaches.

Swap the hitachi 2tb for a wd black 2 tb. I have one and i loads things super quick its all the program drive you need i assure you

oh trust me I know exactly what the caching is and it is actually available on Z68 as well as Z77 but it does not transfer down to the lesser ports. Its only for the Main drive basically what I'm saying is if you raid 2 120's on the 2 Z77 sata 6GB ports you will not be able to cache to the sata 3GB ports. and like xdaax said how many game/progs do you have that wont fit on the 240 raid?? I run 2 64GB ssd's in raid and have as of yet to fill them with several games and all my programs. Most I have seen used on the raid is 100GB of 119 formatted space.

the asus p8z77-v deluxe has 4 SATA 6GB ports. 2 are Intel that i would rid the boot drives on. the other is a marvell chip that asus designed specifically for caching a games drive. one the reasons i chose that board was becase of it. but if u think its overkill i could go with a ROG ASUS Maximus V Gene

I'll have to look into that lol but if it were my rig I'd have my games on my dual 120's in raid you'll have ample room for them I've played woW and still dabble when I'm bored and in honesty it ran the same on ssd as it did on a hdd. My experiences with this ssd caching to an hdd was a nightmare full of crashes. It may be better with the new chipset I cant say with 1005 certanty as I havent tried the Z77 yet. But with your limited resources I wouldnt waste the time and effort for what would most likely amount to a 3-5 quicker load time of a game. Put it on the 120gb raid and ferget it lol.

But your wish list is very good I'm jelly.

i am overclocking but plan to use the asus software to do, i don't think i would myself. the asus software scans the computer config and oc the best it can for the system build. that's why i am getting the k series.

ok I have looked and looked but cant find anything saying the IRST is supported on the third party chips, found plenty that says its on the Z77 chip which is what it was designed to work on. After all it is an Intel thing and it makes perfect sense that its only supported on Intel chipsets.

Now looking at your 2 wish lists I do still like the first one better as its an ATX board and I'm partial to them. I did not that in neither list did you have a gpu listed. Yet you had Nvidia 3D glasses. Next you memory choice if I was building planning on using all 4 dimms then i would grab a quad kit. When these kits are put together they hand pick which parts go into each kit to make sure they work well with each other. I havent priced mem in awhile now but I'd look at a 2x8GB kit and stay with a single dual channel kit other wise i'd pick a quad if you think 4 dimms are better than 2. I run 2x4GB Snipers and have never ran into a memory issue but I dont do dugital media editing.

so my rec's is drop the 60GB cache drive for storage and change mem kits to either 2x8GB or 4x4GB and find a gpu

gpus i haven't deiced on yet, if i do rog ill get a rog 600 series and rog xonar card when released. the deluxe build id do sli on hence psu difference.. currently i have a 280 and a samsung 22" 3d monitor. my 3d kit is messed up that's why the 3d v2 kit is in there.

how much do ya do in 3D??? I have a 27inch sammy 3d monitor and while 3D is cool i find myself enjoying it more for the 120Hz refresh rate more than 3D.

i watch 3d movies and play a little bit of wow in 3d, but v1 glasses are uncomfortable for me because i wear glasses. but movies in 3d sweet.

hmm I havent tried 3D movies on my 27incher yet might look into it. But I'd rather watch my 65 inch tv vs a 27inch monitor lol But I agree 3D glasses and normal glass = PITA
