My First Ever Custom Case

my first SFF mod was acrylic..Looked cool but Plastic has a nasty habit of retaining heat, and there is that whole static electricity thing...

Shoot for alum (6061 T6 if poss.) in the future builds.

One other thing I noticed you added another intake fan for the GPU, wont help much unless you throw in an exhaust.

Try for as equal airflow as poss on intake and exhaust.

I liked the P5N E SLI mobos (had 5 of them) especially loved that they were a bit narrower than a reg mobo, But 4 failed.

How gutted am I? I just logged into my build plog at CustomPC, and there was a comment from one of the staff asking if I would be interested in having the PC featured in the magazine. I would have jumped at the chance, but I broke it up for my next project. I haven't checked the pages in ages so only just found out they were interested.:(:(

Ahh, I forgot to update the thread about that. The fault was with the on/off switch on the second mobo, and not a short. It was purely down to a loose wire on the switch connector. I only found out when I was stripping the rig down. But as I had planned my new project I just carried on stripping it.

The first mobo to go must have just had it's number up. The second mobo works fine and I never needed to RMA it.

Shame you took it apart, was a pretty tidy looking setup. Save more money that way you can keep the rigs you build ;)

It wasn't the money, it was the fact that our house is already full of parts etc, and I don't have the space to keep everything from under the wife's feet:D

That's awesome! :D The components are really good, but the custom case is ownage! :p Must stay pretty cool in that. Also those 2 black fans with the blue lights look cool.

Very nice build. A bloke on a site I was working on a few weeks back had tons of this lovely aluminum angle and it did make me wonder what I could do with half a dozen ACRyan acrylic panels and the butchered innards of a spare couple of cases I have boxed up.:p

Well if you ever do decide to build one, don't go for the AC Ryan acrylic as you will pay way over the odds for it! I bought mine from a local plastics firm and paid waaay less than the AC Ryan stuff! And it's thicker too.:)
