Hey guys, I believe i have finally complied a list of the parts that i will require for my first build.

My logic/purpose for the build is as follows;

1. Someone who loves computers and is (excluding the wife) at the centre of my universe

2. Someone who wants to have a large screen real estate for multitasking

3. Someone who only plays Football Manager but would like to get into FPS games

5. Someone who would like to get into using Adobe products and video editing (although i don't own a camera yet)

6. Someone who wants there computer/setup to have the wow factor and thus be one to be proud of

Okay hope that explains some of my thinking behind this build. It would be my first, however having watched TTL amongst other channels constantly over the course of this year, i thought it time i pulled my finger out.

The parts for my build are as follows

i7 2600k

P8P67 Pro

2x4Gb Corsair Vengance Ram (8-8-8-24) - with the forward thinking of hope to upgrade if needed

VTX ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5

850w Corsair TX850v2

24" liyama Prolite E2473HDS LED (2ms, 1920x1080 Resolution)

Now the price for the all above (859.93) excludes a case noctua d14 and hard drive (i will recycle a Kingston SSD V+100 96GB for the boot drive and buy a 2tb hdd from somewhere). I just thought how do you think things look from here? ideally i would like to get 3 Liyama monitors - i just have to convince the wife haha. Say an extra 60 for a HDD and 80 for the case (i was thinking the collermaster 690ii)

all together we are looking at 1000 pound for that whole set up (plus 80 if i get the cpu cooler)

I'd just like to know what peoples initial impressions are of this set up. I'd like to hear what the community thinks. I think 1000 is very reasonable, although i will probably throw down another 300 to get an extra two monitors

Looks a nice system dude! one suggestion, do you really need the 2600k over the 2500k? just a thought to save a bit of money for other stuff

3 monitors is great.

I'm running 3 off a single 6950. You'll also need an active display port adapter adapter to run 3 monitors unless you go for the sapphire flex edition instead. It would be a rench now to go back to a single monitor setup...

I cant make my mind up about it, its seems to me that the screen bezels would get in the way?

You don't really notice tbh. For productivity you have so much space being able to throw windows across screens - as close to minority reports as it gets... For gaming the 2 side monitors just give you your peripheral vision which is stretched out slightly - its more for seeing things out of the corner of your eye. Its much more immersive.

The choice of either the 2600k or the 2500k is one of my concerns. I don't want to be a noob and say i want to to future proof myself, but i thought the i7 would give me an extra mile or two, especially later down the line. but like you say i take that out and i save myself 70 pound or so going towards the monitors. Everywhere basically says that you wont be able to tell the difference unless you render a video. But my reasoning would be to 'futureproof' myself against bulldozer and ivybridge (not to say sandy bridge will be better but to atleast not get too left behind.) thanks for you input

do you think that having 3 24" is a tag too much and can be overwhelming? Do you think i should economize and go for say 20-22 etc？Tbh the multi monitor set up thing is really at the heart of the build. i think eyefinity is a milestone

The 2600k not worth it imo unless you really want the hyperthreading. Wait for ivy if you can, but until you upgrade to that i think a 2500k is still pretty far ahead of most other things on the market apart from the higher end 1366's.

If you have the funds go for it. You'll need a reasonably big desk, but the first time you sit in front of them you feel like a Bond villain plotting to take over the world. Its the same as everything - you get used to it, gaming @ 5760 x 1080 is good fun.
