My Auschwitz Pictures

I recently took a trip to Eastern Europe with college and we visited Auschwitz the german concentration camp outside or krakow. So i thought ide share just a couple of shots i took whilst i was there.

I like the roses in the 5th piccar as it reminds me of that film... Schindler's list.

Did you go into Berkinow? My mum went there a few weeks ago. She was fine in the Auswitz part, it wasn't a fun day out for the kids or anything, but it was ok, until she travelled into the Berkinow half. She said that part was horrible.

She goes to Poland for wrok a few times a year and was shown around by the son of someone who was held there.

Loving the shots Pat, very moody and you have also managed to capture the sombre tones of the sad place. My fave is the shot from the railhead leading to the entrance/exit.

I think those photos are very fitting and capture the feeling of the place. I went to Auschwitz years ago with my school and it scared the hell out of me. I swear you could almost feel the bad vibes. In it's own way, I think it robbed some of us kids of a little of our innocence. Before we went, I could never imagine humans carrying out such acts on others. I have seen another pic with the same vista as one of yours before:

Nope the rose one isnt shopped, the rose was there but the colour was kept in it and the rest greyscaled. As for the pixels, i dont see any :S lol. Must just be the way its uploaded.

Cheers for the comments guys, really was a sobering experience, yeh the shots are from berkinowor (aushchwitz 2) and auschwitz 1.

what can i say , i was there when i was in 4 class of primary school, to learn some history... good that my home town is far away from those places , but still in poland.

Pat123 next time i suggest go to Thorn, its my home town , very nice gothic city with lot of monuments , devastated castle, and other interesting things.

So was it done with the camera alone?

And ignore the pixels thing, its just some stupid internet thing regarding photoshops..

Well, okay no i shopped the colours but i didnt change anything in the picture, i assumed you meant i have shopped the whole flower in. lol.

I just took loads of colour shots and grayscaled them on photoshop.
