My 5Ghz AMD 8350 Settings

Heya everyone,

Figured I'd post my UEFI Screenshots below in an effort to help those on the road to 5Ghz with their AMD FX 8350:

My system specs as follow:

AMD FX 8350 @ 5Ghz
Asus Sabertooth R2.0
8GB RipJaws X 1600Mhz
MSI 280x
Toughpower 1200Watt
Custom Watercooling Loop

My settings:

Great job :)

1.51v on the CPU you really are on the ragged edge of that chip, what's your temps like? does she run nice and stable under stress?

Seems you got your self a lotto winner if its stable.

Somewhat ragged, Had 1.6v @ 5.4Ghz trough it a few weeks back but didn't dare do anything stressful on the chip.

Depending on ambient and fan speed I get about 54 to 55c (Under stress testing) So under the 61c max safe limit. Yes, all running stable here! To be fair, I could probably do with some better RAM. I may go down the 1 DIMM route that should hopefully be less stressful on the IMC and thus allow lower vCore.

Cooling is:

Kyros Delrin Waterblock
NexXxos UT60 240mm Rad
EK 140 D5 XRES Pump/Res
G1/4 to 7/16 XSPC Fittings / 2x 45 Degree rotary fittings
7/16 XSPC Hose
Mayhems Ultra Pure H20

Will be adding a 360mm Rad to the loop soon I think!

So under the 61c max safe limit.
I don't know if 61C is the limit. There's little enough information from AMD on the subject, although the new version of Overdrive, if I'm not mistaken has 70C as Tjmax.

I wouldn't worry too much about the temperature to be truthful, even if you do go over a certain limit, it'll throttle anyway. However, I'd be wary about increasing the Voltage too much; I think (can't find the source), 1.55V is the limit there.

As for me, I run mine at Stock (plenty performance for me). Although I have had it at 5.2GHz briefly, but I needed 1.55V to do it.

Last I checked the 8 cores were a 62 max, while the 6/4 cores were a 72...

Yup 1.55v is the recommend safe max voltage. As well as 62c being the max core temp for the chip, however there's a lot of speculation that this is somewhat a soft limit, but take that as you will.

Next on my buy list is Avexir Core Series (white) 16GB 2133Mhz with CAS Timings: 9-10-10-28

2133Mhz may pose a slight stability problem, if so I can always downclock to 1866 that should allow me some room for FSB clocking as well as lowering the latency. But we shall see :)

Make sure you only get 2 x 8gb sticks, as having 4 sticks causes memory speed problems......as I found out

Yup took that into consideration :)

If I recall, AMD FX officially only support 1866 on 2 DIMMs, then 1600 across 4 DIMMs

I have been tempted though to get 1x16GB DIMM to relieve stress on the IMC and allow higher overclock and less voltage.

I think it's how achieved such a high overclock with an 8350 @ 4.9Ghz with only 1.41v required as that build only had one DIMM populated.

I should actually give that a try in a bit and see what kind of results I get.

i cant get my corsair vengeance pro 4 x 4gb to boot past the bios at 1600mhz an thats what its rated at to
