MW3

Has anyone seen this?

Just watched it...not entirely sure what they're getting at. There aren't infinite types of map settings (its not the same map, btw, just the same theme), why on earth would you need drastically different menu layout? Don't fix what ain't broke. Yeah they reused a single building from mw2...not exactly the copy/paste of the century and I have no idea what they were saying about theater mode, the screen shots they showed appeared to be in German and there are new modes.

The idea that MW3 is any more, or any less, similar to other games in other series (BFBC1 isn't exactly that different from BFBC2 etc) to anything ever made is just rampant fanboyism.

OT

I got MW3 at the midnight launch and have been thoroughly enjoying the single player which has managed to impress me quite a bit! I think I'm about a third of the way through now.

I have never played any CoD MP before so I can't compare it to previous ones but I think the MP is pretty fun. The graphics are not that good but good graphics isn't what makes good gameplay, take CS:S for example, that is the most played game online for the PC IIRC and the graphics on that are as basic as they get.

Comparing it to BF3 as well is just wrong, they are two different games with two different gameplay styles. BF3 is a more realistic and serious, you have to use tactics and team work, CoD is just running and gunning using kill streaks etc but that doesn't mean it's not fun, which is the main reason for playing a game, right? I like both MW3 and BF3 but for different reasons.

I think there's a lot of tongue and cheek in that video, you can't really take it serious.

They just picked up on a few things.

I think the main problem pc players have with CoD series is it isn't evolving at all.

There are bugs and exploits from the quake3 engine which were there in 2000 when quake3 was released, yet they make out their game engine so much better than quake3. (also rates and tickrate are lower than quake3)

For console players it's probably fine but in terms of improvement there's very little and if anything features are being removed.

Exactly

I'm not a fan of BF or CoD and have played CS:S for years

I did think of getting MW3 as MW1 was fun to play and the action was pretty good, small squad matches were fun.

I've not bought MW3 because it seems like they are just taking money for little effort aswell as milking money from DLC. ( they've even announced they are releasing another 2 cod games next year on the same engine

)

Most people I know from CS:S / Quake2 / Quake3 / BF3 haven't bothered with it either, but I know a lot of people who have consoles who bought it on release.
