mugen 2 fan setup

hi,

I just bought a mugen 2 for my computer and I'm wondering what the best way to install it is. I haven't taken out my mobo to see if it will fit both ways. I had read it's better to place it so the "long" side with the fan is vertical. won't this just pull hot air from the gpu up through the heatsink?

I have an antec 1200 so the air is all coming from the front then out the top/back. so the fan from the heatsink will have to either blow air back or up. I would think that blowing air back would be the best option since the only things heating it up would be my hard drives.

I've got an extra fan I'm going to put in the side panel spot and I was wondering about which way that should blow too. it seems like it should pull air into the case, but then I think I'll end up with more intake then exhaust. I'm not sure if that's how you want it or not. also if it blows out it conflicts with my GPU fan trying to pull air out the back.

I'm a noob at this stuff so sorry if it's something obvious and I'm just missing it. thanks for any help!

i also have the mugen 2 and antec 1200 case.

first off it depends on your motherboard.i have AMD so it is vertical and i think it is best that way.second i tryed to put the sythe fan on the side panel and put a lil dent in the mugen2 so you will need a thin fan.

what type of gpu you running?

i have 2 evga 275 superclocked in sli so it isnt worth installing the side panel fan

I ended up putting it horizontal. I've got a Rampage II extreme. the mugen doesn't block any RAM slots positioned either way. I figured I'd go with horizontal so the fan is pulling in cooler air.

I put the side fan in blowing in. it doesn't interfere with the mugen at all with my board. I've got a BFG GTX 280 OC.

heres a pic i took just before i cleaned the mugen2.i turned the puter on to see how hot it would get without a fan,it went from 26c to 30c.still nice and cool
