8800gts is about the same as the 8800gt which has been rebranded as the 9800gt 'i think'.

Look at this site to compare stats: http://www.gpureview.com/

the 320mb is the OLD GTS its a G80,the 512MBGT/GTS are G92.

8800GTS(G92)=9800GTX

8800GT=9800GT

8800GTS 320

9500GT

in that order of performance

None the less a jump from 9500 to 8800 huge! From low-mid to HIGH!

If a gts 320mb is a high end card, then what is my hd4890?? I have just replaced my 320gts and all though they were one of the top cards in their day, they certainly are not now, at the most it is a good buy for the money, though i will add that i got 9600 3dmark 06 with that card.

The 320mb is good for a 19inch and 1440x900 res and you play good fps at that res, with fairly high settings as well! go up to a 22inch and you might start to struggle, though for 50 notes it is good.

Nowhere near,The jump from my GTS to my GT was like night and day,lol.

Night and day hardly. I have a 8800gts 640 , and also have a hd4870 , the difference between these two wasn't that great. on tom's hardware you can compare both the 8800gt and the gts and they are very similar, so similar that you will not notice a difference in game.

My jump from 8800gts to the hd4870 was noticeable, but wasn't worth the £150 I spent by any means, thats why its back in its box ready to be sold, I also overclocked the 4870 to 850mhz core which means it performed the same as the current HD4890.

cheers for the information once again guys!

excellent. shes using a 19" wide screen monitor atm so resolutions should be great for her using that card :D
