Ok i want to overclock my i5 haswell 4670k on my z87 gd65 gaming board and it just aint happening not even with OC Genie thats on the board. When I reboot after using the genie the screen freezes before i get into bios.Ive been told it may be the psu but i thought running a case fan from the rail was supposed to counter the sleep problem with haswell's and thats what im doing.
I also think maybe ive crapped out in the silicon lottery as it does run very hot on a couple of cores when at full load even at stock levels with a hydro cooler.
Anyone got any ideas please help as im beginning to regret selling my 3570k cheers

So I had the exact same problem with that motherboard on a 4770k. Just try really small steps and make small improvements. Also, can you flash to latest bios?

I have the same board, mine seems to OC just fine.

First off as NBD has already mentioned, make sure you flash your BIOS to the latest version V1.3.

Then boot into the BIOS and load defaults. Restart your machine. If you get into windows then good. Its time to back into the BIOS and start trying to find the minimum voltage you need to run your system at the stock clock.

First thing to do is punch in your RAM timings and then set it up to run at say 1600Mhz.

Then play with your voltage settings until you get a stable rig whilst undervolting. Once you are at that stage save that BIOS profile.

Then begin to OC.

Good Luck
