MSI GTX 780 Ti Lighting Not For Us Mortals

So like others I was waiting for MSI to release their famous lightning series in the shape of the 780 Ti so we would get a cool review from Tom.

The card was spotted at the recent Computex sitting on show at the MSI booth.

The card came equipped with the usual twin frozr cooler and the usual features like the GPU reactor *Big blue UFO on the back of the card*, Military class 4 components, Enhanced power design and triple force architecture.

Nvidia decided to not let MSI release the card in it's current state as it goes outside of their spec sheet i.e voltage etc... and MSI said they wouldn't want to release an item that doesn't live up to the lightning name/brand.

Although this begs the question, Why did Nvidia allow EVGA to release the Kingpin card and Asus with their Matrix cards when they can easily be overvolted to insane levels where LN2 is needed, Asus with their LN2 switch and after market solder on board and EVGA with aftermarket tool such as the Classified voltage software and EVBot, I'm guessing this was a managerial dispute as there is no REAL reason this should of been cancelled.

Sadly they will not make this available for us mere mortals at all, Thanks Nvidia, And were only allowed to make a few available for the top overclockers and bench markers in the world.

Personally I don't see the point of Nvidia locking these things down, It halts progress and competition as they would of sold like hot cakes had they entered full production.

At least we got a glimpse of Olympus ^_^

This pisses me off no end.

I'v got a MSi MPower Max motherboard and this card would of been my number 1 choice as it'd be amazing AND match my motherboard perfectly.

Boo Nvidia, BOO!

It is a shame that Nvidia operate in a way that prevent such great gpus from being produced.

MSI must have went to decent amount of effort here just for Nvidia to say no.

If the AMD 290X lightning was anything to go by, these cards could have been the best on the market.
