I bought this new build some four weeks ago and I'm now RMA'ing my second Motherboard

after the first one was assessed by the Online Retailer to be cracked around the CPU. It was

implied that I was to blame so therefore the Warranty was Void, but luckily enough they (the online retailer)

got me to take out insurance upon buying the components for 30 days covering me for damage to components during the build.

But now as the second motherboard had to be returned I fear that I may have to buy a new Motherboard.

At the moment I've no proof that the first M/board was damaged by me and therefore cannot contest

the allegation.

So getting to the problem of the second M/board, after rebuilding the rig with the new M/Board everything seem to be going fine as I updated the BIOS (v 1.1) and installed the OS and various other software, the CPU Temperature was running at 35 to 40 degrees. During this period I rebooted many times and finally shut it down for the night. The following day I went to boot it up and it went into a spiral of turning itself off and on repeatedly without a buzz from the speaker or allowing me to get into the BIOS (No POST). I first tried to reset the CMOS and took out the battery but to no avail. Secondly I took the the M/Board and tested it outside the case, all leads where in place and then tested the PSU with a PSU tester and that was OK. Still it turned itself off and on, so I took the memory out and tried each stick and there was no difference in it's reaction. I then proceeded to reseat the CPU and tried another CPU cooler, but again no difference. After various trials and tests I phoned the Online Retailer and after telling them what I tested and how I tested the Rig they decided to RMA it. Could anybody tell me what possibly could be going wrong as I was very careful when installing the M/board and the other components? (This time I got a Computer Engineer to assess it before I returned it and he was Satisfied that there was no damage to the M/board and he too could not get it started, concluding that it was the M/board) Other opinions would be gratefully appreciated...

usually with SB the constant rebooting like powers on 1-3 seconds then shuts down and repeats is caused by a bad overclock. But you hadnt mentioned oc'n it yet. Normal process to clear that issue is to unplug it from wall and push and hold the power button fot 10-15 seconds. This is what I have to do each time I oc without enough voltage or blck to high.

I forgot to say Hello to everyone, this is my first time Posting in this SIte.

Thanks S_I_N for the fast reply, Yes I did a mild overclock of 4.2.

As I'm a Novice at overclocking, This is what I did;

In the Green Power section of the BIOS: EUP 2013-enabled

CPU phase Ctrl-Intel SVID mode

MB Led Ctrl-Auto

Intel C-State-enabled

CIE support-enabled

Packet C-State Limit-No Limit

Everything else Default

In the Overclocking section of the BIOS: All Default until CPU Features

1. Core Ratio limit from 38-42

2. Core Ratio limit from "-"

3. Core Ratio limit from "-"

4. Core Ratio limit from "-".

theres ur prob mate when ya oc ya want to disable green stuff and anything that throttles the cpu for power or speed savings.

disable these will help it not do the restart shuffle but it'll happen just unplug push power button 10-15 seconds and restart

cpu enhanced halt (C1E)

C3/C6 state support

cpu thermal monitor

cpu EIST function

intel turbo boost technology

and when going for higher oc's

cpu multi threading

Thanks S_I_N for your Assistance, this seems to be the Answer. The only problem is I've RMA'ed it already and have to wait for it's return. It'll be interesting to see if they (The online Retailer) concur. I'll keep you informed, it seems a silly faux pas on my behalf, it's another learning curve! Thanks Again...

no problemo at all

Thanks S_I_N, I've got it back and it all seems to be going fine(touch wood)now!

You were correct, Ive updated the BIOS to 1.2v and things are running smooth.

I'm currently using my OC Genie II to overclock, is there any advice on future Overclocking

on this board as I'm new to this area?

leave blck alone up multi on auto til it bsods on ya then up vcore a tad at a time til stable again or til you reach your goal. keep in mind the upper reply about other settings as well.

Thanks, that has been most helpful. I'll certainly take note of your advice.
