MSI 280x Artifacts?

Heya Everyone,

I've had my 280X for about two weeks or so and I've only just noticed a problem with it. I don't do much stressful gaming as such, the only game I really play is CS:GO. When I got the card I loaded up MSI Afterburner to see if I could adjust voltages but I was unable too since it being locked, So I never bothered to overclock and shortly after re-installed Windows.

However, I've played FarCry 3 and Crysis 2 as well as other games just fine on this card.

Until however I loaded up ARMA2 and started to see artifacts appear around the text etc, I figured it could be a glitch so restarted the game and the same thing happens. I do a system reboot and the same again.

Abit worried, I loaded up MSI Kombuster and run the Burn In test. No problem, then I run the benchmark and it starts doing the same thing around the text. Not the actual 3D Graphics itself.

So I load up the latest Furmark and do both Benchmark and Burn In with no problems.

I'm stumped, ARMA 2 and MSI Kombuster are the only two applications that bring out these artifacts.

What gives?

I really hope I don't have to do another RMA. That'll be two RMA's I've had to do in a space of a week.

Just to add that I'm running the BETA Drivers.

I am getting it on BF4, was making it unplayable using 13.12 drivers, seem to have settled it by clocking back down to 1000Mhz, hoping to be able to take it back to 1100 and beyond when 14.1 gets released.

ARMA 2 will just have odd artifacts from time to time. Texture glitches are also very common. It's kind of expected with it, because of how bohemia 'roll'. I should know as I've played it with my gt210,gts450,7870 and my 280x before in the past and it's artifacted on occasion. It's partly drivers, partly bad coding etc on Bohemia's part.

I've had those artifacts couple of months ago but not any more, seems like they fixed (I'm playing dayz not the arma 2 itself)

Arma 2 or Kombuster aren't really ever used so it should be no worry tbh. Stick to Arma 3 and other stress software as there are better alternatives.

Update: clocking down the GPU to 1000 did not fix the issue and since 14.1 got released and made no difference to the artifact issue i looked into it a bit deeper, now for me i think i came across the reason last night, played 8 full rounds without a hint of it anywhere.
Problem is simply the memory voltage, running stock GPU Clock and Voltage 1100/1257 but dropping memory down to 6000/1510 seems to have cured my problem and also gained a few FPS, will try increasing the GPU tonight see if i can get it going at 1200.

Pushing memory to far will give lower scores and framerate output due to the memory having to kick in ECC(error correction code) which slows down the clocks and gives higher latency.. so it should never be pushed to far.

Totally agree, but in my case i am clocking it down from the factory OC 1600mV, some cards can probably take it but alas not mine. Plus side though the GPU Clock is quite happy to run at 1200MHz so far :)
