Mr. Smith cleans up!

The picture below was my rig a few months ago, since then I have swapped out the GTS for the GT but have not fitted the mcw60 to the GT, it is still in the loop sat in my case as I'm too lazy to take my loop apart!

I ordered a dremel for some cable management. The cutting disks are awful so I ordered some diamond ones. When they arrive I can sort things out.

OK, the red squares highlight issues. Some I can deal with, some I can't, so suggestions welcome.

1. Hard drives.

Problem: Looks messy and the sata cables are pulled taught.

Solution: I'm going to turn the hdd tray around, possibly move it across. This hides the sata and power cables.

2. Big mess of unused psu cables.

Solution: Not really sure. I need access to these so when the 9800gtx drops I can grab the extra 6pin pci-e cable or hide the one that’s out and grab the two 8 pin pci-e cables... Maybe some mesh to stealth?

3. Mobo power cable.

Solution: Again not too sure. It seems too tight to cut a hole in the mobo tray and route behind?

4. Molex power for fan controller.

Solution: Cut a hole in the other side of the 5.25" bay and route the cable behind, out of sight.

5. Pump placement.

Solution: possibly a la Llwyd and stick it in the bottom to the left of the HDD rack?

6. Fan cables.

Solution: I've got extension leads so I'll be routing those behind the 5.25" bays.

7. 24 pin mobo power.

Solution: Same as a lot of the cable issues, I'm cutting behind the 5.25" to route cables.

8. D-tek block inverted...

Solution: The outlet is supposed to be above inlet so I just need to flip it 180.

9. Res barbs, heavy kinking.

Solution: Move the res...

10. Res placement!

It's not in a good place; the tubes are kinked to the max. I was looking at this from Aqua and was going to put it lying down horizontally above the psu?

I need to make better use of the space and clean up. The only thing I need to order is 10-odd foot of masterkleer and a new res…

What do you all think?

Gonna look sweet once it's all finished.. Mobo power cable sucks for management.. Wish you could disconnect from the PSU to get some good management

Your loop is confusing me..do you have two res's?

I can see why you would think that looking at the pic again...

The top set of tubes on the left that look as if they are coming from a bay res are actually just the in/out from the rad, the ones below that are to the pump. The only res is the micro res!

Do you think the EK res linked in my OP is a good option?

i wish you good luck Mr. Smith!

im still sitting here, already given up.....lol

[edit]if you do get the EK Res, i hope you have a good idea where to mount it, i've heard the vortex is a major problem[edit]

That is sad to hear... Can you not get a refund on it or credit?

I planned to lie the res horizontally over the psu... I'll update the pic later...

Can't do anything until the cutting disks arrive and I get a bit of input re the res. I don't think I can keep the micro due to kinking... Might have a think tonight...

Correct - updated the pictures they were the old ones

and if you have an extremly powerful pump there always the add on here

Aaah, I see now. Thanks for the replies so far :)

I guess there are a couple of things before I order:

- I am using the DDC ultra which is pretty poweful, do you think I need the anti cyclon device given I will be lying the res down?

- I plan to lie the res down horizontally on the partition above the psu. Are there any known issues using the res in this orientation?

- Can I get another holding bracket for it?

Out of interest what detrimental effects does this cyclone have on the loop?

Cheers mate, once I have ze answers I can order ;)

Question regarding tubing.

I`m figuring with whatever setup any1 has, that u want to limit the amount of tubing to a certain extent. e.g. a standard pump and 1 mile of standard tubing is going to be a strain to say the least, even if the internal thickness of the tube is reduced. (extreme example)

Anywho, being semi-sensible, is it possible to use tubing in such a way to be flexible enough and long enough to allow u to "tidy" it ?

When I see these `loops` - it`s the immediate thing that usually strikes me, thick - kinda short - tubing, that kinda goes as short a distance as it can, with as little bend as possible. What I`d like to see is if any1 could route tubing to the sides of cases, not taught and up in the air, and sorta branch onto the mobo just at the place where u want to locate a block.

Too many angles to be efficient ? Tubing not flexible enough ? (can`t see that)

If the res is lying down you should have any issues with the cyclone - this is only normally an issue when the res is up straight. the res should be fine although checking that it will be at least the same level as the pump or higher then it maybe a good idea.

finally we do have spare brackets instock.

Why would you want to do that? To hide the tubing???

Anyway from my experience of 7/16" both thick and thin walled the tubing wouldn't allow it. Thicker stuff is less pliable but prevents kinking, strain it enough though and it kinks, which is why I'm relocating my res!

Thin walled stuff is very flexible but it kinks WAY too easily and is awful imo.

I guess the smaller diameter tubing may allow what you want but again, why?

The pump is being moved to the bottom of the case, below the res etc :)

I'll order tonight as I left my card at home doh!

Sorry but I need a bump!

Aqua, is this the thick walled stuff? I ordered some thin walled 7/16" and it was awful - it had white writing on the side like the picture does.

All the thick walled 7/16" has had no writing on the side.

Thanks in advance

Edit: Do we get any sort of discount? :)

id say the wall is about 3-4mm and there no writting on the side.

As for discount you get free postage and freebie if your nice ;)

Awesome and awesome! Just call me Mr. Nice then :)

How would one go about redeeming such an offer? :worship:

I checked your res spares section and could not find additional mounting brackets?

lol

Place the order online - at checkout select "OC3D postage" then when you have paid for your goods PM the order number so i can check your on the forum :P

ill pop in the extra res holders for you

Dunno, I guess u don`t come across many people who don`t actually like the appearance of the tubing, and having it `in ur face` when u take the side of a pc off.

Anywho, I`d look at it as cable tidying lol Be nice for some1 who is in their machine every other day changing out stuff.

Aaaah, I see. I think 99% of peeps who watercool love the tubing :)

I ordered my new res and tubing. Once that arrives and the cutting disks there will be a few hours of down time before I return with a clean rig...

Need some screws for my rad - rad direct to case, need short self tappers me thinks? pa120.3

I know its a bit late to post in here but hey...

2 things...

The res is good. Iv got one...looks lush and works like a charm BUT!! , cyclone was horrible..bubbles all over the place in my loop. I bought the anti cyclone plate and worked like a charm. Does exactly what it says on the tin kind of thing. lmfao

The mounts for the res..CRAP!. If your going to take it off more than three times. forget it..snap to the max. I went on the site for EK and ordered the mounts they have. took about 10 days to arrive from Slovenia but sooo worth the wait. Look lovely and sturdy and damn they are!. Gorgeous little things. 10x the amount of stability.

Hope its coming on ok...up some pics...lets see how its looking.

Cheers bud
