Dont know if this is the right section or not, but im assuming it is.

Anyway, today for some reason my favourites in mozilla firefox dissapeared!!

Ive got like 50 favourites, and they were websites that i would actually like to go back to. (no they're not what you dirty minded people are thinking :p)

Anyone got a clue how to get them back, this is the 2nd time its happened, but the first time i didnt really have that many favourites on there - so i wasnt too worried.

Please help me if you can, this is really annoying!!!!

Thanks,

G

C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Use name"\Application Data

this is where firefox root folder is stored with all ya info and passwords

to find it you will need to set ya folder options to show all folders go see if it is there

also try system restore

Afraid its gone :(

Tried a system restore, was the first thing i done :(

Guess im gonna have to try to remember what the websites were *sigh!*

Thanks for the input guys,

G :$

file:///home/gorby/.mozilla/DeerPark_A2/2xdgmfrr.default/bookmarks.bak

file:///home/gorby/.mozilla/DeerPArk_A2/2xdgmfrr.default/bookmarks.html

\documents & whatnot\yourname\appdata\firefox\

firefox stores your bookmark info in one file and makes backups fairly regularly as well. There may be a bookmarksbackup folder in this directory to, its worth checking. Also try checking the other user folders within application data.

Looks like its been wiped :(

Man i better start backing up my hard drive in-case that goes too!

Thanks for the help guys!!

This also used to happen to me when I was in a rush and forgot to back up/move my Favourites prior to using Ghost. The Outlook .pst file was often lost/overwritten as well.

Nowadays I zip up my Favourites at least once a month and keep a copy of the .zip file on a separate partition on a separate hard drive. Same goes for the Favourites and the Outlook .pst file. Learn from your mistakes, I certainly did! :)

This method of backing up Favourites is really simple, you can either Cut & Paste or Export your files and then re-Import them when needed.

I do know that you will have to back up your favourites when switching browsers, say from I.E. 7 to Mozilla Firefox or Opera and then replace them in the correct directory of the new browser. This should be self explanatory as not all things are made alike. :)

I hope things are a lot clearer to you now and you get into the habit of backing up important files according to their importance to you.
