Motherboard recommendations

Hey lads,

So my mate recently purchased an ASUS Maximus Hero VII Z97 motherboard and he has encountered some issues with it.

After he has booted up a game, after about 10 min - 3 hours, the PC just shuts down on it's own.

He did some research on the specific motherboard and came across other users who also have encountered issues with it. Not sure if they were the same issue as above though.

Do you guys know any other motherboards which you could recommend, that are Z97 and ATX?

The M7H is generally seen as a good board, especially for the price. It has even received the gold award by Tom.

Did your friend tried to update the bios to a more recent version? It seems to have solved the problem for some people.

Also, do you have an idea of the hardware your friend is using, like the PSU and the memory?
