Motherboard Bent Socket Pins

I've recently bented my motherboard pins while I was cleaning the cpu thermal compound. I manage to fix them, has they were just 4 pins. The PC never stoped booting and the only problem I had was my memory was cut to 4GB instead of 12GB. Now my question is is the problem gonna come back? I've read that due to heat those same pins can bent again and I will have the same problem again.

Asus Sabertooth X58 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 950 3.07 Mhz
ADATA 12GB 3X4GB 1333Mhz RAM
R9 280X ATI GPU
2X 2TB HDD

Well you can never really tell if the problem will come back. Obviously, the pins are not in perfect condition anymore, so there is a chance of problems occuring. It has happened to many people, and they just fixed the pins and it was all good. You should be fine, but keep in mind that there is a risk.

I once received a new motherboard (from a retailer who is no longer on these forums) with bent pins in the cpu socket. When the retailer refused to RMA it and blamed me for the damage I ended up straightening the pins myself. Like yourself I only noticed the damage after the board was only detecting some of the memory sticks. However using a VERY strong magnifying glass, a very fine pin and being careful a successful repair was done.
This was more than two years ago and I have not encountered any problems (even though the cpu has been removed and refitted several times).

Thank you for the replys i feel much safer and I was thinking that I would have to buy a new board and CPU. Now prob I can wait a little while before that happens .=00=

Most intel socket pins are made from a reasonably soft metal, so if you go carefully there shouldn't be a problem.

All the best with the repair.:)
