More Negative Nehalem Info

What the?

Damn, I was looking forward to a nice i7 setup with some DDR3-1600, the voltage thing seems an absolute bummer also. Some world-class overclockers will not be pleased

if this is true...omfg

but then again there was a supposedly true rumour it wouldnt support overclocking..

Surely not. DDR3 may run at fairly low voltages, but I cant see mem manufacturers getting any decent speeds with less than 1.65v :\

Of course...this cud all be BS

Talking about overclocking, Intel don't recommend changing the QPI frequency either. So you'd have to shell out in excess of 1K to buy the unlocked multiplier version so you can safely overclock. :(

Well they're not going to tell you that its really good to overclock that way are they?

Even more bad news, you'll have to post your credit card to me, with your pin, to qualify for ownership.

You'll also need to be three foot tall and have six toes on your right foot.

Seriously, who the hell comes up with this crap? Because this is just a joke. What does memory have to do with processor voltage? Nothing. Memory running at less than 1V? **** off.

What a pile of old

flaps!! Why would they even link voltages?? There is no correlation between certain components voltages and no benefit of doing so :S

Frequencies I can see why they are linked and use straps and ratios and such like as each component has a profound effect on each other but not bloody voltages.

This had better be codswallop!!

Must be good for the hit stats of whatever website makes this crap up tbh

How about we invent our own rumour?

"Nehalem bus speed is linked directly to PCI speed"

QPI linked to the 33MHz PCI bus!

Well I heard the Nehalem's have a built in net porn filter, so I'm fooked!!;):D

:rollingla

Anyway, It might very well be BS, but one thing you have to bear in mind is that QPI is radically different to the good ol' crappy Front Side Bus (it's a point to point connection not a bus) so you can expect Intel to have a few hiccups along the way.

In any case I think the best thing to do is forget the 45nm Nehalem for now and stick with Conroe/Penryn for another while.

When Intel roll out the 32nm shrink that would be the time to consider an upgrade then IMO.
