I'm more impressed with the fact the 3d printer plastic doesn't melt at 400watts.

That'd perhaps happen if the fan-joiner was in contact with the heatsink. As it is it is no more likely to melt than the fans it joins.

I'll have to investigate if I can do this with my Radeons. I do like the aesthetic and the performance. When circumstance allow I'm looking at building/modding a maximum Noctua-themed rig.

Depends on the filament. PLA will deform pretty easily when heated. PETG is a bit better. ABS would be good for most things in a PC, though there are better materials.
Ultimately it depends what loads you expect something to be under.
