MoBo help

As title, I'm looking for some help selecting the motherboard to use for my next build.

I'm unsure whether to go with the FX-6300 or the 8320/50 while waiting for the Steamroller FX chip, but whichever board I buy will be the one I use for SR, at least to begin with.

I'd like something decent for overclocking, but it's also got to look nice as I'll be fitting a window to my case (so no garish blue boards). Probably only going to be running 8GB DDR3 1600mhz unless someone with more knowledge thinks faster RAM will be better. The rig will be primarily used for gaming and general web-use.

Possibility for CF/SLI down the line would be nice too but not a deal breaker.

I know I'm asking for a fair bit, but I'd like to keep it under £125 if possible.

Not sure what other info to include so I'll leave it at that, all suggestions are welcome.

as of yet it is unknown if steamroller will work on am3+, we will not know until amd tell us.
as for a good motherboard i have had huge success with my Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, currently priced at £108 on aria.

Yeah I know we're still waiting for confirmation, I was just going off the original understanding that SR will be the last AM3+ CPU.

I have looked at that one, it was my original choice in my shopping list. When you say huge success what do you mean?

I've also been looking at this and this .

by great success i mean overclocking got my 1090t to 4.3GHz on it, can get great ram overclocks too.
i'd recommend my board from experience, but i recommend searching the internet for reviews of each (newegg usually has loads of customer reviews).

all the boards you selected look great, i'd personally go for the one that looks best with the rest of your rig. but i'd recommend looking up reviews for peace of mind.

*edit* Love your sig btw!

Had the same mobo ( Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3) when i was on AMD,
And got my 960T with 2 unlocked cores (for a total of 6 cores) up to 4.2GHz
And as Watsyerproblem said got great ram speeds aswell
Its a great midrange mobo with lots of features for it's price

Thanks for the responses. At the minute I'm leaning towards the 990FXA UD3 or maybe the UD5 (just because it looks cool lol) as I don't think I'm going to be having any blue in my proposed build. I'm having enough trouble finalising a colour combination in my mind already without the mobo heatsinks adding to the headache.

Any other suggestions/options?

If you want a different kind of color combination the sabertooth boards with white memory (Corsair Vengeance LP low voltage) looks pretty good. In terms of price for the performance though i would deffo stick with the UD3. My girlfriend has that in her rig and it's a masterfully done AM3+ board, plus since it's entirely different shades of black it goes with pretty much anything. The white Vengeance memory would look pretty good on that as well, and it overclocks surprisingly well though I dunno if it can go past 1866 Mhz on account of the board I tried this on can't go higher than that.

the ud3 will go with anything, and mine looks very good with my white vengeance ram.
i have seen people paint the heatsinks on the ud5 and other boards to make it match their rig. perhaps that would be an option if you want to do that.

but i still recommend the ud3 as it's best cost/performance

Surely painting the heatsinks would only serve as insulation (probably minimal but still..) not sure I'd want to or feel comfortable doing that in all honesty. Will probably stick with the UD3 since it seems to have made an impression on you guys on here.

Also I've been offered an Asus M5A78L-M Motherboard and FX8150 at a good (i think) price, by a mate who is jumping ship to Intel. Don't know whether to grab it while I get everything sorted/saved up for my own build because it's going to take a while.
