MoBo for AMD upgrade

First off I'm a self confessed AMD fanboy so please no ribbing me about quite how crummy AMD's line up is... I know, honest.

Anyhow I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard, I always find this the hardest part of perpetual upgrades because you never see a massive return for your cash it's all about potential. I'm currently running an ASUS Crosshair IV Formula. I want to upgrade to an AM3+ board and would like 990 Chipset. The obvious one to go for would be the Crosshair V Formula. Thing is it's chuffing expensive at around £200.

There are lots of things that making upgrading the board a good idea, It opens the door to continuing upgrades in the future. I'm looking forward to playing with UEFI. For obvouse reasons it may be some time before I shell out for a new CPU, of course it will come in time.

I have been reading, looking, searching... trying to make a decision.

I have been looking at the Asus Sabertooth 990FX as the top choice, but it's still an expensive board and it has some special features I'm not sure I need, (it's also brown and green Yuck!)

Thing is there are a bunch of more regular boards from between £90 and £100 I have even reading up on ASRock of all things, I must be confused...

So what do people recommend?

I have the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AM3+ board, think it retails at about £120 or just over. It's a great little board and looks great with its all black/grey finish

The ASUS Crosshair V Formula 990FX at £169 @ ebuyer its not cheap as you said.

The ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Socket AM3+ can be a bit iffy, Ive herd of quite a few of these boards dieing after a few months.

I am also a bit of an amd fan boy, and if it was me doing the upgrade i would use the Biostar TA990FXE Socket AM3+ its rock solid and is not garnished with features that hinder a good overclock, Ive had a few of these and they've always been perfect, and at £106 its a bargain.

I have a sabertooth, i dont think its a stable board, even with the latest BIOS. The Biostar maybe a better bet.
