ML140 Pro or Silent Wings 3?

Hi Guys,

Am looking for a new case fan and have been looking at the ML140 Pro and the Silent Wings 3 and was wondering which you would recommend?

Just look at the specs and go from there -

Be Quiet Silent Wings -

Max fan speed: 1,000
Max sound Level: 15.5 dBA
Max airflow: 101.09
Max static pressure: 1.08 mm-H2O

Corsair MagLevs

Max fan speed: 2,000 RPM
Max sound Level: 16 – 37 dBA
Max airflow: 20 – 97 CFM
Max static Pressure: 3.0 mm-H2O

For all out cooling the Corsairs win hands down but for cooling while remaining quiet at low fan speed the Silent Wings win without a doubt.

The Corsairs win hands down for radiator cooling though.

I'm biased towards Corsair but honestly both are really good fans, If you are using them for a radiator I'd go for the Corsairs, If you are using them as standard case airflow intake/out-take fans then I'd go for the Be Quiets.

Nice, thanks for the info. The only thing putting me off the Be Quiets are how bland they look compared to the ML LED versions haha!

You're welcome :)

As both are great fans just get the set that appeal to you more aesthetically ^_^

Perhaps you can help me with another query?

The Motherboard I have has voltage controlled headers. With this in mind am I better going for a 3-pin Silent Wings 3 or a 4-pin (PWM) ML140?

I'm leaning towards the SW3 with this in mind but would like to hear your thoughts.

Lastly, If I do go for the SW3, should I go for the normal or high speed? I know the high speed version will be noiser at 100% but surely I'll be able to run them at lower speed to keep them quiet, then I have the extra oomph if I need it?

I have all my fans attached to 4 pin headers on my motherboard and they work just fine, I have them all switched to silent in the bios.

I'd go for the high speed as then you do have the option of turning them down or all the way up should you need the extra speed :)
