Hey guys please suggest me a freeware to trim my .mkv movies. The software should just trim and not convert it or anything fancy. I'm breaking my head over this since the past 3 hours...DAMN!

Have you got something that will do it to an Avi?

If you have, you could just try renaming the file from *****.mkv to *****.avi .

It works on some files as the .mkv is just a container.

i use handbrake (x264 high profile, constant quality with RF20 and passthrough audio, mkv target container, source either blu ray on harddrive or another mkv-file...whatever). depending on the source quality you'll get a 5 go 9 GB single MKV file, sometimes larger or even smaller (would need some tweaks then); certainly the audio - as i use it - is a large part of it. you may arrange large jobs in queues and let your machine do the job over night. CPU use only, no GPU (Cuda, OpenCL) support, but very stable and easy to use. also supports gentle cpu usage so you may at least work on your machine while encoding. Windows/Linux/MacOS X. It's Open Source!

another good and free one is MediaCoder. Does it all with CUDA as well as Intel "GPU" support on lucid-enabled platforms. the only downside is that it's a little complicated to use and it is only able to encode two audio tracks in one pass.

i'd go for handbrake.
