Middle Weight Motherboard Battle

Hello guys and girls, I'm in the middle of collecting all of my new parts for my current PC build.

And as you can guess by the thread title I'm a little perplexed with board choice. I've lurked far and wide for different boards and have narrowed my choices (mainly limited by cash) down to a P45 based board.

Either a Asus P5Q-Pro P45 or the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P. Now my knowledge of all things IT isn't the best in the world, and this is why I'm seeking advice from all you crazy over clockers.

My main use for my PC is gaming, a great deal of gaming, but I will dabble in some over clocking i the near future just to tickle a little more out of all of my parts.

Not sure if more info on my wish list will help, but I plan on running a Intel E8400 regardless of what board I end up getting, along with 4GB of DDR2 Ram, either 800 or 1033/1066 MHz and continue using my EN9800GT

I have an ASUS P5Q-E and I have to say I love it. I have heard very good things about the Gigabyte though. I hear the Gigabyte is better for extreme overclocks but we are talking Liquid Nitrogen here which frankly isn't important.

Personally, I'd recommend the P5Q-E to you as I have it and I got experience. It is a very easy board to overclock on.

tbh mate by the looks it will make no difference to you. If your ram is 2x2gb then get the asus for future overclocking. I dont like the looks of giga boards but for basic users they are pretty damn good.

If it was my money it would be the Asus though
