Microsoft's latest Zune music player is also going to be US only, not shipping to the UK at all.

I think you could add "for the time being" to the title, i think that would sum it up better.

I'm really not sure why microsoft would do this. Many people have been dissapointed with the updates apple made and were thinking about going down the zune route. It would be prime time for them to release world wide.

I don't understand any of these "single country" things. In these modern times where consoles are HD (a universal standard as opposed to the old NTSC/PAL thing) then there is no reason to delay games or consoles. Portable items have, even by that standard, zero reason to not appear around the globe.

Of course when it does finally make it to the UK it'll be twice the price of the US version. Why adjust the price when you can just swap the dollar sign for a pound one and pretend that extra shipping costs are the reason. Because, you know, they don't get shipped from China to the US or anything...

/wanders off rambling about the insanity of the world.

That's interesting, I've not heard any of that. iPod/iPhone/iTouch/iShouldn't touch.

Got a few buildings full of people still foaming at the mouth over them despite anything I may point out to them that is bad imo, but the standard answer is still something to the effect of "upd8 what ?", "mine's great", "<insert girly giggle>", "yeah but just look at it!?!".

Alot of the time I may show things on my phone and they may not know about it - still be on factory firmware. Then again, from time to time people show me stuff when I say "why doesn't it do that".

I dunno, ley people seem to still be in love with iTunes, the Mac factor, and all that it encompasses.

Personally I love the devices and h8 iTunes. Still working on that tho.

I would probably be able to talk people into using a Sony player or a Nintendo player - but mention microsoft and they immediately think of the reason I'm actually in their office >.<

Zune is probably an excellent device - I do hope they do file copying as an option instead of the god-awful syncing.

EDIT: OLED I notice pops up on nearly every lcd device with leds behind it. It's not the OLED we were getting moist about a few years ago, manufacturers are using the term for LED screens - any LED screens. My new router (D-Link 855) is quoted as having an OLED screen, and it's leds behind a plastic screen. That's taking the pish imo.

I am only saying that because of the way Apple is dominating everything in the music market.

If a Zune HD does come out in Britain I doubt most people in the UK would actually buy a Zune, which to most common people is an unknown name, over an iPod Touch.

To those people who do have awareness would still buy an iPod Touch over a Zune due to the fact that it bares (Sp?) the Microsoft symbol.

Apple is really well known for it's iPod and Microsoft hasn't even done anything properly to rival the iPod until now.

Little bit too late for Microsoft imo.

I dunno. I mean I agree that there have been some excellent audio players from the likes of Creative over the years and in this country nobody outside of an enthusiast knew what they were.

Arguably better in many ways than the original iPod, but the Apple sexiness isn't there ofc. No1 wants to know what Creative device u have in ur pocket. iPod and every1 goes gooey at the knees.

That Zune, like the previous Zunes, are pretty good devices. I really hope they don't do all the app-center stuff and that, to emulate what Apple do. Even if to the extent of pressuring App-people to program for them exclusively or lose windows licenses (which is a previous microsoft technique they're used over the decades).

It looks sexy enough to me, but doesn't stand out. It's not available in pink (I don't think) - infact u could say it looks like a dated mobile phone. First question u'd get is what phone is it ?

They are up against it tbh.

i've been going on the comment on the engadget website for the last couple of months. i'll agree that these prob arnt the jo public and apple have done a brilliant job at getting the name out there.

It was widely hoped and almost expected the touch would have a camera. infact this morning i've been reading theres now a space on the touch motherboard for a little camera sensor. So im wondering if we see one in the future, even though steve jobs is aiming it as a gaming device now. Also they say the chip inside supports wireless n. perhaps these are future upgrades?

EDIT: forgot to mention, they also found an FM transmitter in there.

The new Sony X Walkman > Ipod.

Almost any touch-screen phone > Iphone (assuming you might ever want to make a call with it)
