Microsoft's Second BD Patch Gives No Performance Gains

Much to write about at this point is no more: In total, the two Windows updates already seen performance increases. Where the FX-8150 is running on a benchmark across all its cores but no improvements are seen, at this point there is a lack of CPU but not really for performance. Thanks to a good scaling across eight cores on the at least one FX-8150 in the parallel discipline with many threads a very strong CPU performance.

The relative weakness of the FX processors is rather grounded in the IPC per core and of these the vast majority still depend on applications.

software can NEVER fix hardware

Well, it sorta can...

Fire Up Internet Explorer (or the browser of your choice) pop on to Aria / Ebuyer/ Scan (other eTailers are available) and order yourself a sandy B system & watch all your hardware issues with BD disappear, all thanks to software

Seriously though, it would have been good for AMD, and the market as a whole, if this update had been able to give BD a much needed boost. Somewhat wishful thinking on my part though. If the new motherboards don't "fix" things then things will go from bad to worse for BD and AMD's reputation in the high-end CPU field. Such a shame...I still remember when AMD CPU's were without a doubt the gamers choice, my old Athlon 900 was epic in it's day. My 2400+ was great, the 3500 that replaced it was awesome, my 4200 x2 was...well, a bit of a letdown but that's because nothing really took advantage of the two cores fully back then. Still, it was cheap and worked well.

I'd love to see AMD's CPU's come back on form and giving Intel a scare at the high-end, but I don't think BD will be doign that. Strong mid-range (from a gamimg perspective) CPU's is what they should stick to as they do it well.

Scoob.
