i think this is a good move. Although i suppose they cant ship it with windows due to antitrust laws. shame really as it would mean an AV solution was installed out of the box. Certainly help with the spread of viral infections.
Think about how many people have pc's with no AV. These could be infected and sending out loads of 'crap' to other users. If pc's came with AV preinstalled, chances are they wouldnt.
I know AVG is free, but that involves installing it. You'd be suprised how many people are either too lazy or too dumb to install one. (my mate being one of them).

The matter of them not being allowed to preinstall something means the majority of the oems are going to be Symantec of sorts. Which will take an expert to remove.
If they need to install the Microsoft variant, the Free-AVG is going to be just as much of a process, assuming they've made the phonecall to "Symantec" (or who-ever) to uninstall what they have.
Either way, a dummies oem would most likely contain something corporate based anyway. Considering reinstallation, without an 'expert' at hand, they have the resource dvds supplied and a phonecall to "Dell" (or who-ever).
The fact Microsoft have seperate anti-virus protection makes me a bit angry, i think we shouldn't need this extra software it should be included in the OS.
