Microsoft refund

I was not sure where to put this so went for here.

Just had a phone call from Microsoft telling me that I due a refund after I purchased my PC something to do with the software.
Again the person speaking is either Asian or Indian and as I could smell a rat straight away. He went on to explained that since I bought my Computer I was due a refund I pointed out to him that I did not purchase a complete system and he was talking out of a large area of his arse.
He then politely hung up.
If you remember there was a scam regarding a virus on your Computer they would ring up say they are from Microsoft and would want access to it so they could download a fix and then charge you for it ( fact was the fix is normally free). That company was closed down but looks like they have thought of another way to get money.

I hope this is helpfull

There are a lot of scams like that going around, I wish they would call me so I could have fun with them, let them connect to a VM and waste their time.

A lot of people get caught out by these scams, which is why the still seem to be relatively prominent. Even if you want to have a little fun, sometimes it's not a good idea to stay on the line because the longer you're on, the more you'd be getting charged.

Thankfully, the more tech literate people (like us) don't fall into these traps, but it's still a reminder that we should make the less knowledgeable aware of such scams.

I like to keep asking them to hang on... or "one second" then set the phone down.

or tell them you cant hear well and "say that louder" see how loud you can get them to say it lol.

I posted in the funny thread. I'm kidding anyway but it is funny when they change the text colour to red for infected files.

LMAO .inf = infections

I never knew that. I have loads.

The video made me feel young again when we had to use MS DOS all the time.:D

I knew precisely what the operator was doing the moment he pasted C:\tree...

Bloody con artists.

Good ol' MS DOS

I remember those days, config.sys and Autoexec.bat and loading devices into himem.
Do you remember boot disks? Some DOS games need a certain amount of conventional memory I think, I always tried to free up at least 600k.

Ah the good old days, waiting for the POST to actually count the amount of RAM  oh and having to compress a drive to create more space, oh how far we've come.

And motherboards had instructions on how to set the correct clock speed for your CPU via jumpers, no software control back then.

If you had a lot of RAM it could take ages but as time went by and more advanced PC's came out, counting got quicker.

I have always wondered if someone will ever upload a virus or something onto there system whilst they are connected to you, just to give them a really taste of there own medicine lol
