Microsoft extends XP deadline again

Dude!

"Is this another sign that Microsoft realises Vista is a mistake? Discuss on our Forums."

Bit harsh aint it.... It's hardly a mistake. All they are acknowledging is that it requires too much power to be run on the cheap machines aimed toward internet and simple office work.

Still no harm in having both out.

I dont think Vista is a failure. I've never got a BSOD screen ever, this does mean it is stable in my case, but there are those times Vista does really PI$$ me off. Like when I login and I am seeing the welcome screen over 2-3 minutes and sometimes the windows never respond.

I beleive if they are going to extend the deadline then PC/Laptop makers should continue supporting XP with drivers for their newest products. Becasue some laptop dont need to have Vista on them.

Feel sorry for some Laptops users coz they need to buy a new one. Obviously not now but after 2010. They should consider using Linux - Ubuntu (Personal Favorite)

I much prefer Vista over XP for multiple reasons, however I know alot of people who are still most comfortable with XP, so I'm glad it's staying for a little while longer.

Meh, we`ll be using something else next year.

Atm we have both worlds of XPSP3 & VISTASP1, each with their uses depending on what pc ur installation is for.

But, we will have the said to be better OS Windows 7.

I think Vista will be forgotten like ME.

Na tis not quite in the same bracket as ME... ME was utter cack and basically the same as 98. Wasn't much pick up on it. Vista is spreading. Another year and it'll be almost everywhere... Baring your machine of course ;)

I agree with it`s meger comparison to an ME for the 21st century.

Some nice little things, but to me u can have a pro/con list which is pretty equal.

Laptops are hitting some thresholds, or are about to. The BR writers are going to be coming more and more, there are some already. Newer graphic series are hitting the scene in small numbers. And I personally think DDR3 for laptops will be the rage too.

All adds up to some pretty good sell-offs of stock to me. HDDvd based laptops should be getting cheaper already. DDR2 isn`t costing it`s packaging or shipping imo.

I can see a really drool-worthy Apple coming from all this. LOL with a $3k pricetag or something.
