I didn't know OC3D existed before I saw this comp pop up on one of my feeds. I'll probably just lurk for a bit rather than jump into any deep enthusiast convos, mainly because the time has long since passed that my knowledge of new tech was "current".
Put it this way, the last time I "knew my stuff" about building PC's was when my 256mb GeForce 2 was top of the line! >_<
Also, I just don't have the expendable income to splurge on new gear...
That said, I can see this argument from both perspectives. I can see AlienALX's point, having "tourists" drop by, enter the comp, and leave without contributing or realistically making any web-wide promotion of the comp worthwhile. But on the other hand (and I hope this is more the case), being a newb myself and discovering this community through the comp itself, I hope to hang around and brush-up my knowledge of rig-building. I probably won't say much in threads until my knowledge has increased a bit or I think I have something valid or constructive to say, but I hope I won't be looked upon as "one of those guys".
