Merry Asusmas Christmas Competition

Im not only here for the competition.. i first came here back in september after finding Toms reviews.. im 39 and built my first pc when i was 20.. im certaily not an expert but im definitely enthusiastic about building them.. so that makes me an enthusiast ;)

Good :) please; do feel free to join in :)

Yup. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out now.

This is not acceptable.. while I understand the frustration of people turning up to the competition without contributing it doesn't give you the right to expel people from the forum. This is the end of this topic.

I don't speak for all and I don't have the powers in place to ban people. I spoke my opinion, he doesn't like it, I don't like his.

He doesn't have to do anything, I've not told him to shove his head in an oven.

I won't post in this thread again. There's no point, human greed is one of the things that annoys me about the world the most.

I didn't know OC3D existed before I saw this comp pop up on one of my feeds. I'll probably just lurk for a bit rather than jump into any deep enthusiast convos, mainly because the time has long since passed that my knowledge of new tech was "current".

Put it this way, the last time I "knew my stuff" about building PC's was when my 256mb GeForce 2 was top of the line! >_<

Also, I just don't have the expendable income to splurge on new gear...

That said, I can see this argument from both perspectives. I can see AlienALX's point, having "tourists" drop by, enter the comp, and leave without contributing or realistically making any web-wide promotion of the comp worthwhile. But on the other hand (and I hope this is more the case), being a newb myself and discovering this community through the comp itself, I hope to hang around and brush-up my knowledge of rig-building. I probably won't say much in threads until my knowledge has increased a bit or I think I have something valid or constructive to say, but I hope I won't be looked upon as "one of those guys".

Can someone please reveal what the codes for the giveaway were and what articles they were in. I was never able to find them and its driving me nuts

Same. Been watching the videos for a time. But any place I can go to gain information about tech or to swap advice with someone is well worth sticking around for.

I don't remember where exactly they were but afair they were both in the first quarter of the year. I started from january 2016 when looking for the codes in the news and review sections. People not finding the codes might imo be because they a) looked beyond the year 2016 b) didn't open all of the pages of the articles/reviews or c) a combination of both.

I have been a lurker for a really really long time, I am this year doing my first build for my teen son.
I know NOTHING so couldn't contribute if I wanted to! I'm sure you would all be thrilled with my dumb ass questions (of which there will be plenty when I start the build) or if I constantly ask if the gpu comes in pink.... (That is sarcasm btw)

After reading the posts though it doesn't make me want to stay if we will be trolled out due to arriving for the comp!
Surely comps are actually there for the purpose of promotion so to encourage?
I know; as I am a blogger that hundreds only enter and don't stick around but the chat/wom whilst the promo was active is surely worth £££ v print media?

Anyhoo Good Luck all new or old and Happy New Year to you all :)

no question is dumb dude, it's not like we are all born with the knowledge we have now, when i first joined i must of p***ed off a few people with my questions but to this day i'm more then happy to of stayed :)
