Memory upgrade for my A64 3000 (754)

I currently have 2 sticks of corsair VS 512mg, thinking about adding another for a totaly of 1.5 gigs (only 40 bucks on newegg). Think its worth it? Need some better BF2 smoothness and such. Cpu is the 3000 a64, with a 9800 pro (probalby going x800xl soon).

Btw, I also just bought the 2005fpw :D

for that kind of money it may be worth a shot, especially as bf2 seems to be very uneconomical with your ram.

however expect worse overclocking results and no 1t command rate.

Yeah BF-2 cains your RAM :(

Sata and No AGP lock limit my overclocking already.....only thing im worried about is that the ram will be running at a lower speed and be slightly slower for applications that dont need over 1 gig.

I don't think it would make a noticable difference running at 2T would it? Anyway, more noticable is the performance gain from apps that do need over 1GB :)

Yea, I know my CAS is gonna have to go up, some people have to run their ram at 333 instead of 400....ill see how mine handles it I suppose. I think im gonna order the ram soon, see if I still want the x800xl upgrade after i install it.

Ordering from newegg right now,s hould have it soon.

Probably will come at the same time as my 2005fpw :D

btw, anybody know if the 2005 works out of the box with BF2? SOme people ive seen have been having problems with LCD's and BF2 because of native resolutions and stuff, anyone got any info? My friend had to go and edit something so that BF2 booted up in a compatible res with his LCD, or it would just crash on startup.

Mine was ok out the box...but doesn't show the native res...unless yeah you do that mod then it runs it in 1280 x 1024 or wwhatever:D

You may look into a mobo upgrade first and then look into some nice oc'ing ram. All pending the amount of money ur looking to spend of course.

s754 isn't bad @ all, Fraggle :).

If it serves me fine it can serve just about anyone fine as I'm just the speed freak as everyone else here. Who wouldn't want more speed? :D

2.2GHz rox, S&M Stable :).

I only have the demo but it works A+ on my L90D+.

Yea, well keep in mind mines a widescreen...sot hat could be weird.

As for the processor, a 3000 is pretty much overkill for most of the games out today anyways. Bottleneck is definately at my GPU right now anywyas (9800 pro).
