Memory question/s

Hi all.

I have currently a 4gb dual channel set of Radioactive. It's the fabled stuff that was among the first to do 2000mhz. Tom reviewed it. Any way since going SLI for some reason it isn't enough any more even though it was before. I am getting "your computer is performing slowly" messages that want me to basically disable Aero.

I'm also getting a warning in red from NFS : Shift that tells me I do not have enough memory available for my chosen setting (8xMSAA).

The ram I have is very expensive to buy now and it's close to impossible to find it at 1.65v the same as I run now. To save myself some cash I bought a used set of dual channel Blackline and want to alternate the ram (same coolers different colour) but the ram I bought is 1.5v.

Now. The ram I have has far lower timings than this Blackline stuff.

My ram timings on my Radioactive are very low so does this mean I could possibly match the timings on the Blackline and lower the volts?

IE Blackline is 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5v but my Radioactive is something like 7-8-8-7 @1.65v.

Does voltage help lower timings? I really don't have a bloody clue about memory tbh.

Worst case scenario I will take the coolers off and just run 8gb ram but I would rather run all 12gb..

All sorted. The board detected both pretty much the same but is running them at 1333mhz. That's standard practice and leaves me to overclock them and find their tipping point.

Both are pretty much the same in CPUID the only difference being that the Radioactives apparently need 1.65v to do 1600 (well, 800 DDR).

Will have a fiddle later
