Memory performance by mixing

Hi, i have 2 GB 1 stick of transcend DDR2 800 and 1 stick of dynate which is 1 GB DDR2 667. I wanted to ask that if i use both ram, will it give me more performance in gaming, windows stuff, for future long run as 3 GB ram will run at 667mhz speed rather 800mhz Or it is better to use only 2 GB stick of transcend as it is 800 mhz.

Also will it affect that 1 ram is transcend and other is dyante, as dynate is consider bad as compare to transcend so mixing up them is bad idea?

Thanks

assuming you have a dualk channel mobo then no benefits will be seen using mixed memory. the only benefit you will see is the added capacity in programs that need it. And then I'd suggest running them in the same channel. And your correct it will drop down to the slowest spd, but that can be overcome by oc'n the raqm back to 800 if the lower one will do it.

My motherboard is intel DG43NB so dual channel in it. I will not do overclock as dynate ram will burn for sure or won't work. Currently i am using only 1 stick of 2 GB of transcend. If you guys suggest that 667 mhz speed won't be too low then 800mhz in performance as compare to benefit of 3GB i will get, i will add that dynate 1 GB stick too. i don't know how to keep them in 1 channel tho or about dual channel it will use or not.

Thanks.

normally mobo have 2 different color ram slots using the same color insures dual channel ( in most cases lol some may differ) alternately look at the mobo manual. Outside of that put them in 2 slots load up cpu-z and see if it says dual channel or single. you want single for this setup. And yes you will see a minor performance hit running both as per the drop in MHz to 667. I doubt the gain you'll get from 3GB will be worth it in the long run.

I installed cpuz and saw that currently it shows single channel when i am using only 1 stick of 2GB 800mhz ram. So what is your final answer? i should keep using 2 GB ram only?

yup as most games ur prolly playing barely max that but I may be wrong not knowing which games ya play
