Memory Overclocking

Hey, I am currently overclocking and was doing fairly well until the ram hit 2000 MHz.

I have mushkin ridgebacks 2x3 6-8-6-24 standard. I was just getting to a 4GHz overclock on my CPU which was fine however the Ram failed to start the first time on 2MHz and I quickly realised the times weren't slack enough so I changed them to 8-9-8-24 which is what tom runs and what he thinks every set should be able to do, so I assumed it would be ok this time. However I got a blue screen just after the windows starting logo finished and the pc restarted. So I quickly put the ram back down to pop on and ask you guys what the matter could be?

Which voltage is the actualy RAM one btw, becuase QPI/DRAM isn't it I dont think so is it the RAM Bus Voltage? I am not sure.

All advice welcome, thanks.

PS: I am currently getting at maximum 63 degrees on my hottest core on a 4GHz Overclock with 1.30 voltage. How much further is it worth pushing ? I want a an overclock that I can just use all the time when I play games etc. I was hopeing for around 4.5GHz, what do you think ? How high is too high ? (I am on a watercooled loop, Thermaltake 360 TA Rad)

whoa! that is way too high for the ridgies. you will kill em!

well done on the 4.5, but drop the memory back down to hover just above 1600-1700

Ah ok, I thought that the ridgebacks would quite happily hit 2MHz with 8-9-8-24 timings and 1.65 volts ?

As i mentioned to you in another thread, you want to have a stable oc,before you even think of oc`ing the rams.

Standard settings is recommended
