Medusa's - versions?

I got some Medusa SL-8790's today :)

At first they sounded really hissy :( but once I put my soundcard volume up to the max and turned the medusa amp down it seemed ok. I also noticed if I put the amp right up I can hear that clicky sound I was getting on my old headset mic :(

Seems pretty cool on cs:s, just played vs some bots quickly to test it out. It does sound different to my stereo one's altho I was hearing everything I can on the medusa's with my old stereo headphones which were going thru my speaker setup.

make sure windows, your sound card drivers and css is set to 5.1

command is something like snd_surround 5.1

yer 'tis all on 5.1 :)

my speakers were mixing the channels into stereo before tho, so I was hearing everything I can on the medusa's :) altho the medusa's are clearer.

I've noticed something wierd with them now :( on cs:s if I hear an AWP firing behind me it sounds like a pistol shot :( has no bass or anything, but if it's in front of me it's perfectly ok  :(

Probably need to fiddle with your mixer a bit.

True 5.1 > Simulated 5.1 though.

I might have to install the creative mixer :( I am using a Audigy2 soundcard, so it should be ok.

You may indeed.

You sure the sub/center plug is configured right? A few times ive had to invert them in the driver settings.

CSS's audio diagnostic tool will let you know

I installed the creative software and set it up according to this, but the rear sounds completely flat :( think I might try downloading the latest drivers.

edit: I just swapped the front and rear jacks around and it seems more like it's the actual headphones :(

Bah, might send em back I guess :( has anyone else noticed this?

Can really hear it when using the creative speaker test on 'noise' and also on the cs:s speaker test. On front it's got depth but on rear it sounds like the bloke is talking on a telephone

i used to get this im sure, but its fine now, i think i just played with sound settings on the inline remote.

I think I've fixed it now :)

After something Jiffz said last night (the rear sounds more bassy than the front) I thought I'd try swapping the front and rear again, and on the test it was the same only the front test sounded tinny and flat. But ingame it was ok :) I also put the latest creative drivers on so they may have had something to do with it.

I ended up changing the speaker balance settings aswell putting all speakers onto 80% and the sub on 100% and it sounds excellent :) even on iTunes. (am shamefully listening to The Magic Numbers, Those The Brokes album) :D

Thx for the help peeps :)

I guess my soundcard or the medusa's must have the channels wrong. (think it's the medusa's as my speakers are ok)

Also, has anyone noticed that the vibration thing seems to just add distortion and sounds worse?

no vibration for me just increases the bass massively

Maybe I have too much bass or something :(

just seems like it distorts the bass, like the sub is being overdriven

Hmm, I have an Audigy 2 and the same Medusa's and got the latest drivers and mines fine. just keep fiddling with the creative drivers.

Ohh and i know this sounds stupid, but make sure your headphones are plugged into the amp porperly, mine came out and i the sound went flat, and i spent 5 minutes fiddling with my sound drivers before i realised that the cable had come out slightly.
