Medusa's - versions?

I've been looking into maybe getting a surround sound headset as atm I have a setup where I play on 5.1 sound crossed over to stereo headphones.

I bet someone will question this, but it does work.

I'm thinking of getting the medusa's, but I'm not sure which ones to get and also the differences.

So far the info I've got is:

Pro-Gamer Medusa (SL-8793)

(no pass-thru, also what is the USB for?)

Medusa (SL-8790)

(pass-thru & no USB) - Am thinking of getting this one

Medusa USB (SL-8795)

(USB only) - Don't think this one would be a good idea  (linux)

Medusa Home (SL-8796)

(pass thru + AMP) - most expensive

I'm not that sure if this info is accurate, but I know loads of you already have medusa's and will obviously know more :)

What are the Zalman's like? They look ok appart from the mic.

Zalmans are good actually but without the vibration of the medusa's. Mic is ok but missing the boom. Is it £20 worse than the Medusa's? No i deffo don't think so, thus why I have a pair

The 8790 seems the right one

I would stick with Medusa's if you are a gamer! ;)

I liked the first one, Pro-Gamer Medusa. I guess the USB is for the Mic?

Edit: 1000 Posts - Lets party!

8790's are the ones to get, and i believe the usb on the others is so you can have software 5.1 sound

I thin kI have made my mind up as well and it is the same as yours ^^ wont buy till next month though at earliest.

the progamer comes with a carry case and an external usb plug for power so if you go to lans the progamer is the best

I like how they have stuck Aviators on the styrene heads to make them look slightly less ridiculous with the medusas on. Quality piece of kit but they dont half make you look like a dork :D

i can't recommend the medusa's enough, by far my favourite headset after killing a good few in my years of online gaming.

I have the SL-8790 and i would probably pay £35 just for the packaging they come in, i've never recieved anything else that had a red ribbon and velvet inlay

the box is now home to all my spare wires and such, couldn't bring myself to throw it away :D

I'm just thinking mainly of the pass-thru for surround speakers. Also you can plug in 2 headsets and buy replacements for £18. You have an external amp aswell. I guess the USB ones are internal and harder to replace

Also don't like the idea of powering stuff thru USB. Not sure on how much power it pulls, but I know there have been quite a few things pulling more power than USB is spec'd to in the past, leading to problems and broken usb headers.

"Availability: Sold Out - Sorry this product is no longer available"

Hope they get some more, that is a fantastic deal
