Me again: MACH II wont' start

Hi Guys (& Phil),

I seem to come back here with only problems; this post will be no exception

So my first problem was that the evap temp sensor was off, this seems to have fixed itself (made a thread about this before).

NEW PROBLEM: The other day I was burning a CD, when all of a sudden the temps began to rise (as seen by MotherBoard Monitor). they were climbing to about 16 C, and I shut down the system (pc and Mach II). When I took a look at the Mach II unit later on, I saw that the LCD was off; in fact, the whole unit has shut itself down (hence the rising temps) and will not start again. I've tried unplugging and replugging, but nothing. This is not the first time I burn a CD with the Mach II unit on , by the way .

So anyway, anyone have a clue as to what the problem is? The issue above occured rather suddenly... Has a fuse been blown? (Does the Mach II even have fuses, lol?). Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Yeah check the fuse its on the control board in the black fuse holder on the opposite side to the suction head etc

(Thanks for the reply!) I'm a total n00b, so I wouldn't know what part of the board is behind what you called a suction head. I'm guessing this is the part of the loop that takes in the evaporated refrigerant and sends it to the compressor... Am I correct? Even if I'd know what it does, I wouldn't know what it looks like. So, in simpler terms: is it on the right/left/top/bottom of the board??

And does the fuse look like the image I have in my head of a tiny class cylinder with a wire inside and metal caps at either end?

Ok the fuse sits in the fuse holder it is on the board above where your power cable plugs in

it is in a black cylender type thing next to the voltage selecter you need a flat blade screwdriver to open the fuse holder and the fuse is inside it will be like the glass type ones but it will be white ceramic instead it is rated at 5 amp

Ok, pulled out the fuse (would've been nice to know that you have to push down then twist that black cyclinder's top to unscrew it, but anyway ). Now that it's out, any way to check whether or not it's burnt? Can this be done or must a voltmeter absolutely be used? Is there some home-made trick to do it?

And what about the scenario that the fuse isn't burnt... What could be preventing my unit from turning on?? (Remember, it's not that it won't start cooling, but the unit appears unplugged even though it is not!).

EDIT: The fuse seems to be rated at 3 Amps, from what's written on the mettalic end... (Correct me if I'm wrong).

The easy way is to try with a fuse you know works

But the quickest way is to use a multimeter.

It could also be the fuse in the mains plug. I have popped many of them (never one on the control board tho), so try another lead/ plug also.

You mean the fuse for the AC outlet (i.e. plug in the wall ), right? I actually took the one from my PC's psu (which I know is working) and plugged it in the back on the Mach II with no luck

Guess I'll have to find a multimeter... Oh, and if anyone can answer the other questions in my previous post, please do so!

Find a multimeter or just replace the mach2 internal fuse with one that works just pop into maplins probably cost you £1 tops for a single fuse

I'll translate that to "pop into Radio Shack probably cost you $2 tops" since I'm in Canada
