So im updating my pc and this is the last thing im not sure about. I have about £200 to spend on a MB and CPU. I play games a lot but have no real plans to overclock, th games i play arent to intensive at all, Mainly MMo's!

so far i have seen, http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...+PCI-Express+ATX+Motherboard+?productId=46139

to go with something like http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/AMD+Bulldozer+FX-4100+3.60GHz+%283.80GHz+Turbo%29+Socket+AM3%2B+4-Core+Processor+-+Retail+FD4100WMGUSBX+*+CASHBACK+PROMO!+?productId=46818

any ideas, thoughts?

I would bump the CPU to at least a 6 core. It's a little much for most games but more and more are coming out with 6 core support.

Good motherboard choice, I use one in my main 1100T rig and its a little beauty!

If you want x4 that CPU shuold be sufficient for just MMO's, I don't see them as being very intense, at least not right now but it may be worth you're while to go for a x6 just for some future proofing I guess

If you were going x6 I'd recommend staying away from BD as the x6 II series can be found cheaper and are just as good if not better

x6 1055T's can be found for cheap second hand, and theres 2 versions 95w and 125w

x6 1090T is also another option and tbh theres no point in getting the 1100T as the 1090T is more or less the same CPU and can overclock the same

In my second rig I have a 1055T 95W, I paid £110 for that brand new but it's a known overclocker and would work really well with that board you chose, no doubt you could pump it to 3.6/3.8ghz if you ever decided to overclock so something like that may be more worth you're while imo

If you really wanted to stay BD and go for the 6100 then OcUK have it pretty cheap atm, you even get a free copy of deus ex and £15 cashback!

BD FX 6100 @ £109.99

Thanks for the advice! Lots to think about, i guess the next question is shall i spend a bit more and go for an intel setup?

Would i get a lot more for my money with intel? i must admit im very tempted to save for a sabertooth MB.

Intel is more sufficient for gaming atm, a 2500k is the perfect gaming cpu for the current time and no doubt it shall still be strong in the next few years.

If you're on a tight budget then something like I linked above would be awesome but if you can afford the 2500k for example I'd say go for that as it'll last you longer no doubt.

Tbh I hate the way the sabertooth looks and have herd so many bad stories about the boards failing a lot.

hmm interesting, If i can im really after a black MB so hence why i like the above ones, 2500k sounds promising, any idea on a good black bored for it

only reason to go amd atm is if you cant afford an intel system.

just because you wont oc now it doesnt mean that in a couple of years you wont want to so i would say get a 2500k and a z68 setup which will last you years.

The gigabyte Z68 range are good, they are Intels version of the AMD 990FXA boards

This one is the same one you chose but for intel instead, If i was setting up a 2500k rig atm I'd use this board as I think its the best looking out the whole range + cheapest out the lot!

Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P

yeah looks like a no brainer there only thing is that cooler while its decent would probably be better replaced for higher overclocks
