Max Payne 3 has stopped working

When I launch MP3 it crashes saying MP3 has stopped working. Any suggestions running on windows 8.

- Running via Steam?
- System specs?
- In-game settings?
- Have you tried launching as admin?

not running through steam just launching exe and tried running as admin. I also gave running in compatibility mode.
